The length of time we’ll be sat on our asses (watching Megan Fox’s) in June has been the main topic of Transformers 2 conversation today, with director Michael Bay telling MTV:
“It’s four minutes longer than the last one,” explained Bay, saying that the runtime was locked. “So, go figure it out.”
Bay said that Hollywood puts too much emphasis these days on the runtime of movies. “I don’t ever talk (to executives) about run times,” he grinned. “Studios always ask, ‘What’s the run time?’ And I’m like ‘If you enjoy the movie, do you care?’”
Then a few hours later Bay updated his Twitter with the following:
‘TF’ news that you have been waiting for, The runtime will be just under 2 and 1/2 hours. – Mike
My whole way of thinking is that we usually wait around 3 years for sequels (in Transformers case it’s 2 years), so they might as well make the movie a good length as people want another good dosage of their beloved franchise. Just under 2 hours 30 minutes is a good length for Transformers 2, and I am sure the robot battles and explosions will make it fly by.
