Transformers 3 will contain fewer explosions

transformers 2 shia megan 500x233 Michael Bay, king of explosions and Guinness World Record holder for creating the biggest explosion on film with actors present (Transformers 2), has revealed that Transformers 3 will contain fewer explosions than his previous effort.

From The L.A Times:

Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film — which will hit theaters in summer 2011, won’t be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A.

“There will be a nice crescendo ending,” Bay said. “It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape.”

Could it be that Bay has listened to the critics? Or could it just be that in order to top Revenge of the Fallen the film would need to be 50% fireballs? Whatever the reason, it’s good to hear that more focus will be placed on the robots. At the end of the day one of the only reasons people flock to see the films is to see fighting robots, i’m sure only handful give a damn about Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes.

I'm sure this question reflects my age. I liked the Dark Knight in Imax, and I liked the original Transformers movie. I liked the pacing, the special effects, and the characters. Good clean non-intellectual fun.

you hit the nail on the head there. I could care less about whatever fake “story” is involved with Shia can't act to save his life, Labeouf, and Megan never speak again, ever, Fox. I want to see Optimus prime battle anyone, I want to see Devestator, properly made.

To tell you the truth, more people go to see megan fox on top of a car or motorcycle then robots talking. So going into depth with the robots might be a set back.

WON'T BE AS MANY ROBOTS. THERE WEREN'T ENOUGH GOOD ROBOTS TO BEGIN WITH.
*phew* got that out of my system.
but seriously. T1 was horridly lacking in that category, and T2 filled the gap with gimmick characters (Decepticon balls and Autobot hoodies, anyone?)

I am sick of Bay's crap.
