Elizabeth: The Golden Age

This one showcases the stunning cinematography for the film, opening with a beautiful shot of a castle overlooking a tranquil pond and ending with a 180-degree spin around the queen in fully decked out garb, standing in front of a window that floods the shot with bright light. Plus, you can’t beat a pissed off Cate Blanchett (”I too can command the wind, sir! I have a hurricane in me that will strip Spain bare if you dare to try me!”). I also love this song, which I was surprised to find out was part of the original score for the Michael Bay helmed The Island…!

Music: My Name is Lincoln – Steve Jablansky (Not available on iTunes : Amazon)

  • Good stuff.
  • Well, these are all good, but you've missed a few amazing ones that at least made me go see their respective movies:

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow:

the robots, the retro 50s feel with an alternate reality storyline, this trailer got lots of people anxious, but sadly, none of them went to go see the movie. I did though, it was good, better then the critics gave it anyway.

    V for Vendetta:

That trailer was phenomenal, it gave the basic plot, and promised twists, conspericies, and explosions. I loved the movie, and the trailer.

    Cloverfield:

Probably the one trailer that got the most people to go see the movie. This is in my opinion, a perfect trailer. NYC is under attack from something, and that's all you know. I have yet to see a trailer that was as perfectly suited for a movie that succeded to well.

I saw all three of the movies i listed, but I only saw 5 of the ones you listed, and mostly not because of the trailers.

I am curious though, which movies didn't live up to the trailers in your mind?
  • Ooh, V for Vendetta... Good one! That was a great movie, and had a great trailer as well!

Unfortunately, both Miss Potter and Elizabeth: The Golden Age didn't live up to the trailers for me. I was so EXCITED about Elizabeth, too, probably because I enjoyed the first one so much, that it probably could never live up to the version I had in mind. Still a good movie, but sometimes I like to watch the trailer and think of what might have been.
