I am pleased to announce that the first bit of information about what we will see in Iron Man 2 involves a toilet and vomit. Production Designer J. Michael Riva had the pleasure of spreading this joyous news over at NPR.org:
Eight weeks before shooting began on Iron Man 2, J. Michael Riva had just gotten the first real script.
But he did have a list of sets and plot points. The first item on the list read: “Tony, in the Iron Man armor, pukes in a toilet.”
“I design a toilet,” says Riva. “My big job for the day. After that I can go home. My kids ask me, ‘What’d you do today, Dad?’ I designed a toilet!”
As production designer, Riva is responsible for the look of the toilet — to make sure it fits with the look of everything else in the film and doesn’t stick out.
Could the vomit be a result of excessive drinking? Or could it be that Tony did a few too many loops while flying? We’ll find out in May 2010!
