Thor Writer Speaks

You may know a small film named I Am Legend coming out soon. Will Smith. Nothing special. Well the writer of that movie is also going to be writing the upcoming Thor movie, directed by Stardust and nearly X-Men 3 helmer, Matthew Vaughn. Due to the writers strike the film got put on hold because Mark Protosevich has not been able to write the script. Well, Mark recently spoke to the Chicago Tribune about the status of the project.

“That project is as much a passion project for me as ‘I Am Legend,’” he said. “I was a comic book kid. Thor was my absolute favorite.”

Once the writers’ strike is over, production can start and Protosevich says audiences will be “pleasantly surprised” by this interpretation of the character. It’s much more rooted in the Norse roots of the character, he says.

“There used to be a segment in the Thor comics called ‘Tales of Asgard’ — and it’s much more akin to that,” he said. “It really is set in that world. It does deal with Earth. The primary focus we’re taking on it is really all about the Norse myths.”

I cant wait for this. I have not seen Stardust but it has got good reviews, even though 3 people saw it in the US. I would have liked to have seen Vaughn’s version of X-Men 3, simply because it may have been better than Ratner’s. To see the Norse God thundering his way onto the big screen can only be ‘epic’ in my eyes. I hope they don’t screw it up.
