Following the news that Spider-Man 4 may not hit it’s May 2011 release date due to problems with the script, Disney and Marvel (who are now one) have moved the release dates of both Thor and Pirates of the Caribbean 4. With major competition during the summer months studios have to be quick to claim their spot.
According to Box Office Mojo Thor has been moved forward and has taken Spider-Man 4‘s slot on May 6th 2011.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has been given Thor‘s old slot: May 20th. Previously it had just been given a simple ‘Summer 2011′ target.
Summer 2011 is going to be on hell of a year for blockbusters. As well Thor and Pirates 4 (and Spidey if things work out) there’s Green Lantern, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Transformers 3, Captain America: The First Avenger. We also can’t forget the big screen debut of The Smurfs…in 3D!
