lol here's a reply 7 months old, but anyway, overall its on cinema as a whole, but yea i'd say there is a large focus on American cinema. we have a couple of specialist NZ classes, but theres only so much NZ cinema to study! Im nearly done my degree and i know loads more about American, and even French and German cinema, then i do about nz cinema.

Interesting list. So glad to finally see Guillermo Del Toro in a top 10 list! I dont like his Hollywood films much (Hellboy, Blade etc) but his true, personal films like Pans Labyrinth, Orphanage and Devil's Backbone and outstanding.

Hi joymi310, I was going to ask you why American cinema in NZ, but because the industry in the US is so big, that'd be a dumb question. Rather than that, do you also have NZ Contemporary cinema classes? ^ ^ … Do you think overall it focus more on American or NZ studies? (know what I mean?) — Thanks!

interesting list! re your comment on spielberg not being taken seriously, interestingly we are studying him in my American Contemporary cinema class this semester. So finally he is getting the scholarly attention he deserves (although my university is an nz one).
