Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon star in this unbelievable yet somehow true story of the making of a very popular photo. This is the first trailer for comedy Elvis & Nixon.
“On a December morning in 1970, the King of Rock ‘n Roll showed up on the lawn of the White House to request a meeting with the most powerful man in the world, President Nixon. Starring Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley and two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey as Richard Nixon, comes the untold true story behind this revealing, yet humorous moment in the Oval Office forever immortalized in the most requested photograph in the National Archives.”
Despite neither actor looking anything like the people they’re playing, they’re both always fantastic in everything so I’m not complaining. Also I like what I’m seeing here. Elvis & Nixon looks funny and silly and everything you’d want from this kind of story. And to think Elvis only really came to the White House to get his hands on a Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs badge for his badge collection (or so the story goes).
Liza Johnson directed Elvis & Nixon with a screenplay by Joey Sagal, Hanala Sagal and Cary Elwes (yep, The Princess Bride Cary Elwes). Besides Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon, also in the movie are Johnny Knoxville, Colin Hanks, Evan Peters and Ashley Benson.
Elvis & Nixon opens April 15th in the US.
