Henry Cavill was interviewed on the ABC News program Popcorn with Peter Travers, where host Travers asked him about the status of the Justice League movie, urging “Come on. Make that happen!” Cavill had this to say,
Justice League, more movies, I have no idea. Justice League could be great if done correctly. It’s a very tough one to do because the DC comic heroes are all god-like in their power. So in this real world setting we’re telling our story in, it’s going to be tough to achieve that and it has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought. So, it won’t be right away, I hope it’s not anyway. It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another. I think it would be great to do, but I don’t think it’s around the corner.
It seems the rumors of Warner Bros. rushing to get Man of Steel 2 released in 2014 and Justice League in 2015 aren’t true. While the executives at Warner Bros. have much more of a say than Cavill as to when the movies will be made, hopefully the creative team behind the projects, such as director Zack Snyder, screenwriter David S. Goyer and producer Christopher Nolan, share Cavill’s enthusiasm in quality over quantity.
If the Marvel trajectory is taken and the wait between Man of Steel and Justice League ends up being similar to the four year interval between the first Iron Man and The Avengers, we won’t be seeing the DC Comics superheroes team up until at least summer 2017. Hopefully, each member of ‘The Justice League’ will get a solo film to hold us over until then.
