AICN got the scoop on this gaudy golden one sheet for the upcoming 80’s set Middle Eastern thriller The Devil’s Double. The film set during the eighties concerns Saddam Hussein’s son Uday, and Latif Yahia, a childhood friend of Uday’s who served, not by choice, as his body double. The parts of Uday and Yahia are both played by Brit Dominic Cooper.
The film is based largely on Yahia’s own autobiographical novel which details his first hand experience of the opulence and extravagance of Uday’s lifestyle, the spoilt son of the infamous dictator who possibly saw himself as some kind of Scarface like figure. This is the angle that the film seems to marketing from, with little subtlety. Take a look.
Directed by Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day) and written by Michael Thomas (Ladyhawke) and co-starring Ludivine Sangier and Raad Rawi, the film debuted at Sundance and was picked up for distribution in the US by Lionsgate. It makes it’s bow in the U.S on June 29th.
