The first images from sci-fi thriller The Adjustment Bureau have made their way online thanks to Collider. I’ve been following this film for a while and it’s about time Universal released some stuff for this. Hopefully a trailer won’t be too far away, and considering it has a release date of July 30th we shouldn’t have too long to wait.
As the image above shows, the movie stars Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. Damon plays David Norris, an ambitious politician who meets a ballet dancer named Elise Sellas (Blunt), but just as he realizes he’s falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart.
David learns he is up against the agents of Fate itself–the men of The Adjustment Bureau–who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path…or risk everything to defy Fate and be with her.
The film is George Nolfi’s directorial debut, having written the scripts for The Bourne Ultimatum and Oceans Twelve, and is loosely based on the Philip K. Dick short story “Adjustment Team”. Philip K. Dick is the man behind the short stories that eventually spawned movie such as Minority Report, Blade Runner and Next. While the Nicolas Cage outing may not have been as good as others, I have a feeling that The Adjustment Bureau will be up there with the superior films. At least, that’s what I’m hoping anyway. We should have an indication when we get the first trailer.
