Terminator is more realistic than Transformers says McG

terminator salvation robots First Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay had a dig at Terminator Salvation due to their use of big robots, to which director McG replied “our large robots have nothing to do with the Transformers robots”. Now it seems the rivalry is still alive and well after McG compared the two films in a recent interview.

From DigitalSpy:

Terminator Salvation director McG has said that his forthcoming action movie is more realistic than blockbuster rival Transformers.

McG dismissed Michael Bay’s robot movies, claiming that they rely on “breakdancing”, “backspins” and implausible action scenes.

“I think Transformers is a terrific picture, but that’s a picture whose genesis is in a toy. They’re sort of more colourful and optimistic and the pictures are sort of breakdancing and flips and backspins,” he said.

“But ours is a very different, real world. Ours is a world of, ‘This is where we can be ten years from now’. The whole idea for doing this movie was to honour the first three movies… But begin again!”

I hope McG and Bay keep this up until the movies are released. I’m quite enjoying the public rivalry.

Who’s side are you on? Transformer Bay or Terminator McG?

Definitely McG. The first Transformers was like watching giant toys. The second one is going to be a baysplosion event that I have no doubt will be awesome, but I'll bet it will still be like watching giant toys – you can see it in the preview. You can't really argue this…I mean have you seen BumbleBee? Plus, Bay started the rivalry, and I'm always against the bully :D They've made toys from Terminator. They made Transformers from toys. Enough said. This of course would be a harder debate if Transformers 1 hadn't been made yet…but it has and so what can you say.

Well, I don't know what to say about Terminator Salvation since I haven't seen it yet and I'm unsure about the director McGriddle, but all I know is that Transformers was horrible. So most likely Terminator will probably be better…

They're both equally unrealistic. Transformers is complete fantasy, breaks the laws of reality in everywhere, there's is nothing realistic about transformers, and the whole thing is a giant cartoon, I've seen anime that's much more realistic than Transformers. Salvation was also unrealistic in that the robots are portrayed as being so weak and shitty. In real life like in a real world scenario, humans would get destroyed by computers. Just try to play quake 3 arena against the god-mode bots. Already robots are more effective than humans at combat, just look at sentry drones online, or predator drones. They're unstoppable. I've seen autonomous paint ball turrets that don't miss. Image one with a real weapon. Both these movies are complete fiction and are no where near reality, sorry.
