Michelle Monaghan Confirms Wolverine Rumours

IESB got a chance to talk to Michelle Monaghan regarding the rumours that she was in the running to play Silver Fox in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. When I first read it I didn’t know who Michelle Monaghan was, so I naturally ran to Google to find out a bit more about her. To my surprise she has been in a number of films I have seen, such as Constantine and Mr and Mrs Smith. She has also had roles in The Bourne Supremacy, Gone Baby Gone and Mission: Impossible III
So Liev is Sabretooth…But Who Is Playing Stryker and Silverfox?

Wolverine is to film later this month, if they arent already doing so now, and we don’t actually know who is playing who. We were told Liev Schreiber had joined the cast as a younger version of Stryker, played by Brian Cox in X2. Now CHUD say that Liev is not playing Stryker, but Sabretooth. This could be interesting. With such a physically large character you expect a wrestlers name to pop up. However, Vinnie Jones was transformed into Juggernaut fairly well in X3, so maybe the same can be done with Liev
Weta Suits The Justice League and Wolverine Shooting Locations

The people over at The Dominion Post have confirmed that Weta Workshop will design the costumes for the characters of The Justice League. Weta is split up into two areas, Weta Workshop and Weta Digital. It was Weta Digital who did the amazing special effects in The Lord Of The Rings and King Kong. Weta Workshop specialises in physical effects such as costumes, props, models and movie sets. Their work can again be seen in Lord Of The Rings, Hellboy, Van Helsing and upcoming Avatar. With every comic book movie, the casting has to be near perfect otherwise the world as they know it may come to an end. X-Men fans have been wanting Gambit in the movies ever since they were first talked about back in the 90’s. A trilogy later and all he got was a few pixels on a computer screen. Wolverine Synopsis Revealed!

While announcing that they are switching a few movies around, Fox released the official synopsis for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Here is it:
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set to star Jackman and will be directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition). The producers are Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter (who produced all three previous “X-Men” films), along with Jackman and his Seed Prods. producing partner, John Palermo. The film will be executive produced by Marvel Films’ Kevin Feige.

Butler as Sabretooth?

300 was a huge hit and made Gerard Butler everyone’s favourite Spartan. Since then he has done a drama/thriller with Pierce Brosnan, a romantic/drama/comedy thing with Hilary Swank, plus a couple of other films. I am most looking forward to Game which looks rather interesting.
Anyway, CHUD are saying that their source told them that Gerard Butler may be up for the role of Victor Creed aka Sabretooth in upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This would be rather cool if it were true, however I wont believe any of it until anything is confirmed. We reported last month
X-Men Spin-Off’s! On DVD?

Last year we got X-Men 3, the final movie in the trilogy, so where could FOX go from there? They have the rights to a highly profitable franchise, they might as well milk it like a cow. So instead of an X-Men 4 we are getting a Wolverine spin-off, expected to start filming in January, and a Magneto movie which has been affected by the writers strike so the status of it is unknown.

Wolverine Casting Rumours

I think you should take this news with a grain of salt until anything is confirmed but there are some interesting casting rumours floating around.
Someone on the IMDB boards (again, take this lightly) has posted that Karl Urban may be up for the role of Sabretooth. Urban is known for this roles in The Lord Of The Rings and Pathfinder. He also has a role in the upcoming Star Trek movie, which could cause conflict if these rumours are true. Wolverine and Star Trek are scheduled to start filming around the same time, however things could be worked
Maggie Q Joins Wolverine!

There have been rumours going around that Wolverine has been delayed because Kidman and Jackman’s Australia has taken up all of the filming stages. However, people with common sense will realise big studios do not turn up and find that filming locations are unavailable. They are booked months in advance to avoid this type of problem. Eventually Fox released a statement saying:
“We are still planning to begin principal photography in January. We have every intention of keeping this on schedule. Australia is a Fox production as well, so we will work with that area of our production group as best
