You can read descriptions of what was seen (spoilers) by clicking here, here or here. However, for us regular folk the news we want to hear is when we will get a trailer. It’s been in production for years and we haven’t seen a thing. Well thankfully Avatar will be all over our computer screens by this time next month.

From BusinessWire:

On August 21, the world will get its first look at director James Cameron’s motion picture epic AVATAR, when Twentieth Century Fox and Cameron debut the film’s trailer everywhere – while select cinemas and IMAX® theaters will screen extended footage prepared by the renowned filmmaker for this global “Avatar Day” event.

The worldwide trailer launch will be presented in all formats, including IMAX® 3-D, IMAX® 2-D, digital 3-D, digital 2-D, and 35mm 2-D. The trailer will also be available online.

The extended look at AVATAR will unspool only on August 21 – and only in 3-D – in select theaters and IMAX®. Details on locations and reserving tickets for this extraordinary and unprecedented experience will be announced soon.

In addition on the 21st, Ubisoft® will unveil the trailer for their videogame James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game, and Mattel will reveal the action figures for the film’s Avatar and alien Na’vi characters.

Unfortunately for me there are only around 3 IMAX screens in the UK and my nearest is hours away. But I will be counting down the days until the Avatar trailer bursts online. Full screen. 720p High Definition. It’s on!

In the meantime take a look at the official Avatar website which is now live. We see the face of a Na’vi alien and we also get some background music. Whether it’s from the film or just for the site I don’t know. It’s nice and peaceful though.

Read similar posts to Prepare your Na’vi holes! In between the films Cameron took part a 43 minute Q & A session and spoke a little about Avatar. Here are some highlights:

1. Cameron said we would see our first glimpse of Avatar “very soon.” His tone of voice seemed to be hinting that we would, in fact, be seeing something very soon.

2. The 2D and 3D versions of Avatar will have different aspect ratios. The 3D version will be the full 16 x 9 ratio in which the movie was shot (Cameron mentions how the extra screen height benefits 3D). A 2D cinemascope ratio version will be extracted from this 16 x 9 footage for 2D theatrical exhibition and 3D exhibition on screens which can’t handle 16 x 9.

3. On Avatar: “It’s great to be back in the saddle making a movie- and making a movie that I know – win, lose, or draw, whether it’s a good film or not, I know there’s going to be images in this film we’re making right now that are going to Blow. People. Away…They’ll be like, ‘what the f#ck?”…cause we say that when we see the shots coming back from WETA Digital. They sent us a shot last week, and I said, ‘this is ridiculous!’ So, I don’t know if it’s gonna add up to be a great film, but I already feel proud that there’s some cool stuff in it.”

Click here to hear all of the Q & A session.

How soon is very soon? Could we be getting a trailer with Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs at the beginning of July? The film is in 3D and will be released by 20th Century Fox so it’s a possibility. Whenever it is I can’t wait! (Although I will).

Read similar posts to Cameron says we will get our first glimpse of Avatar “very soon” at Filmonic
