Christian Bale Nearly Played George W. Bush In W.

Before Oliver Stone cast Josh Brolin as George W. Bush in W. it was Christian Bale who had undergone the hair and make-up tests.

When director Oliver Stone first set out to make his biopic “W.,” he cast none other than Christian Bale in the role. Yep, you read that right.
The English-born actor spent months learning the mannerisms and vocal tics of the American president, but ultimately backed out of the film at the last minute after he reportedly felt that the hair and makeup tests simply weren’t working.
“Well frankly, Christian’s a very methodical actor,” Stone explained to us recently, insisting he holds no ill-will towards the star of “The Dark Knight.” “And he has to have the makeup thing work for him.”

I’m quite glad the hair and make-up tests didn’t work for Bale, as I don’t think he is suited for the part at all. Bale should stick to Batman and Terminator in my opinion.

Vanity Fair has unveiled a photo featuring the entire White House Cabinet that will be in Oliver Stones W.

From left to right: Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, Toby Jones as Karl Rove, Dennis Boutsikaris as Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney, Josh Brolin as George W. Bush, Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice, Rob Corddry as Ari Fleischer, Bruce McGill as George Tenet, and Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld.

W. will be released on October 17th just before the election.

Jesse Bradford As Dubya’s Frat Buddy?

Jesse Bradford (anyone remember him?!) has been cast as Thatcher in Oliver Stone’s Bush bio-disaster pic W.… Thatcher was Bush’s fraternity president in college.

I really don’t understand… why do people continue to sign up for this project? Is it for the controversy? Their belief in the man? Or the money? (My bet’s on the latter!) How many people does Oliver think are going to see this movie? No major production company would even touch the movie; it’s being produced by Lions Gate Films, who have brought us such amazing yarns as Bratz, The Condemned and Happily N’Ever After. I guess that actually sounds like some great company for W..

*sigh* Whatever.

Production is apparently well underway in Shreveport, Louisiana. Bradford is joined by Josh Brolin (W himself!), Elizabeth Banks (Mrs. W), and Ioan Gruffudd (Tony Blair). Pic is currently set for release in October.
