Summit Entertainment has announced they are developing a television series based on the 2009 film Push. The film, directed by Paul McGuigan and starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning, was essentially a “superheroes vs. government” story, but stood out because of its slick visuals and fantastic production design.

So why would we be interested in another show so similar to Heroes? Because David Hayter, the writer of Bryan Singer’s X-Men and co-writer of X2 and Watchmen, is writing the pilot episode and will be executive producing the series. The program will be “an extension of the film,” and offers “a broad and rich canvas on which to extend the storyline and characters introduced in the feature film.” You can read the press release in full over at Slashfilm.

I’m cautiously optimistic about the potential for this series. I enjoyed the film probably more than I should have (I’m a sucker for superheroes, and McGuigan’s Lucky Number Slevin is one of my favorite films of the past decade), so I’m interested to see if they can separate themselves from similar subject matter on other channels and do so with a degree of success. The voices behind The Simpsons have finally agreed to a deal that will allow them to “D’oh”, “Excellent..” and “Thank you come again” for another four years. The negotiating had caused the show to be delayed for a number of months, but the actors finally decided that $400,000 an episode would be enough for them.

As part of his deal, Castellaneta (Homer) has been named consulting producer on the series. He’ll now serve as a writer in addition to continuing as a voice performer.

However, although the voice actors are now locked through the next four years, it doesn’t necessarily mean The Simpsons will be back beyond season 20. Gracie Films’ deal with 20th expires at the end of this season, and Fox hasn’t renewed the show beyond this upcoming year.

We only have another 130+ days to go until Heroes reappears on our TV screens. The last promo didn’t reveal much, however in this new one we get to see the actors explode with excitement and a few behind the scenes shots.

A new trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars is now online. I’ll admit that I haven’t been following this, but after watching the trailer I wish I had. The animation looks great and the familiar voice of Samuel L Jackson combined with the classic Star Wars theme made me have 1/8th of a Star Wars fangasm.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will hit the big screen on August 15th 2008. The movie leads directly into the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series on Cartoon Network.

The first trailer got leaked and the Foo Fighters filed a copyright lawsuit as their music was used without permission, however now we have a new longer trailer for the upcoming TV show Wolverine And The X-Men.

I think its safe to say every X-Men character ever created is in it, and I think I saw The Hulk at one point.

That’s right, Wolverine AND The X-Men. The good people making this new TV show are using their brains and think by using Wolverine’s name it will get more people to watch it. If having three whole movies focusing on the smelly brute wasn’t good enough, we are also getting a TV show about him, alongside the Wolverine spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The word ‘overload’ comes to mind. The show looks similar to X-Men: Evolution that we got a few years back. From the trailer it appears the shows focus is on Wolverine mostly, along with Rogue. Here’s the synopsis:

When an explosive event shatters the lives of the X-Men and takes away their mentor, the beaten heroes walk away from it all.

But then they’re given a rare glimpse into the future, and see a world in utter ruin, ruled by giant destructive robots. A world that spiraled out of control because the X-Men had given up.

So now the most legendary of all X-Men takes the lead – Wolverine! Reuniting these broken heroes, Wolverine embarks on the ultimate mission – to prevent the world’s destruction.

To rescue us from ourselves. To save the future.

Following on from X-Men 3 where the main characters died every 3 minutes, Xavier and Jean are bumped off early on. Yet again Cyclops hits emo mode and grows a beard due to the death of Jean. Storm seems to have flown away somewhere, leaving only Wolverine to save the day, along with Beast. Don’t worry I am not spoiling anything, the trailer shows you it all.

Wolverine And The X-Men will be showing on the BBC in the UK in 2008. There is no word where it will be airing anywhere else as of yet.

Update: It seems they have removed the trailer due to the large amount of traffic the site received.

Oh my god. It’s starting. And I’m so excited.

The summer of 2006 was filled with Lost for me. Not only did I make a Lost fan film (check it out on my website!), but I became very much involved in ‘The Lost Experience.’ This summer long time waster was one of those ‘alternative reality games’ that a lot of people are using to market their goods these days (I’m looking at you, Cloverfield. Funny how they are both JJ projects). Mysterious symbols, candy bars, orientation videos, Rachel Blake, and all other things starting popping up on the Internet AND the real world. The game sucked many hardcore Lost viewers in, and didn’t spit them out until September. And damn it, it was fun. The live DJ Dan radio broadcast that served as the finale was the highlight for many fans (especially me, because I called in and got on the air!).

And when it was all over, fans wondered “Will it happen again?”

And now, my friends, your prayers have been answered. It looks as if it WILL be happening again. And soon. Like, in a few days soon.

ABC has just released this press release, and boy, does it make me excited!

This is the sort of stuff that us hardcore Lost fans live for. I really can’t wait to see what they have in store for us before the new season starts. This just gets me more and more excited.
