There’s the anticipation that builds up, the refreshing of websites and the ‘OMG ITS LOADING!!!’ moments. However, it is also fun to get a glimpse of a trailer for a movie that you have never heard of before.

A few minutes ago I stumbled across the trailer for a movie called Stone’s War. I had never even heard of it so I watched it out of curiosity, and was quite impressed. Stone’s War is written and directed by a man named Marko Mäkilaakso. It is set in Finland in 1940. The Soviet Union attacked Finland in November 1939 and the battle lasted until a peace treaty was signed in March 1940. All of this took place during the winter months, so it has been given the name of The Winter War. That’s the history part out of the way, now for the plot.

In the film Captain Martin Stone is leading a finely-trained, elite platoon of American and Finnish soldiers as they attack an enemy bunker. Underestimating their enemy’s strength, they are quickly beaten back into the forest. As they try to regroup, they are suddenly attacked by the same soldiers they had just killed a few minutes earlier. Forced to flee deeper into Russian territory, they discover one of war’s most terrifying secrets and realize they have woken up a far more deadlier enemy.

Being attacked by people you just killed can’t be good. The only logical and scientific reason I can think of for this weird event to occur, is if the soldiers turned into…zombies. Could this means we have a zombie movie set in 1940′s Finland during a war? Resulting in zombies, guns, tanks, soldiers, forest, snow and explosions? If the thought of this interests you then watch the trailer below. If not, I suggest you go to see Horton Hears a Who!…it may be more your thing.

The film is low/mid budget and is a Lithuanian-Italian-USA co-production. It will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival this May, and is currently in post production over at Paramount Pictures. The director is apparently developing a script with Stan Lee, so watch out for the name Marko Mäkilaakso, as he may be directing a comic book movie in the near future.

Read similar posts to Stone’s War Trailer! on Filmonic
