Sony recently released an exclusive 4 minute super preview of the summer’s most anticipated movie, or so they say. As the title might suggest, that movie is The Amazing Spider-Man and what we get in this “super” preview is essentially a cool mash-up of most of the footage we’ve seen so far from trailers, plus around 1 minute of new stuff.

Now this might not really be the summer’s most anticipated film but it sure looks very cool. Also the scene with the kid was very good, although I wish they didn’t spoil something like that (so be warned if you haven’t seen the “super” preview yet).

Do I really need to give you a synopsis here? I mean it’s Spider-Man and all the trailers released have basically shown half the movie. At this point the best case scenario is we still have one hour of never before seen footage when we actually end up seeing the damn movie. Joking aside, I can’t really blame Sony for going all out, especially in a summer with superhero films like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. On the bright side, because it was shot in 3D and Sony will push that experience the most, it won’t lose any 3D theaters to Batman come July 20th.

The Amazing Spider-Man was directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and obviously Stan Lee somewhere in there.

The Amazing Spider-Man opens July 3rd in the US, UK and basically everywhere you can find a movie theater (unless you live in Norway, then you’ll just have to drive to Sweden or wait a week longer).

Stan Lee is the cameo master when it comes to Marvel films, and with Thor gearing up for filming next month director Kenneth Branagh emailed the legend to inform him of his upcoming ‘role’:

Kenneth Branagh (of course I call him “Ken!”) said my cameo’s set for the upcoming Thor movie. –To him, it’s a cameo, to me– it’s a ROLE!

I went easy on Ken Branagh when we discussed my role in Thor. Told him I wouldn’t insist on my name above the title, I think he was grateful

Yeah, I mentioned Ken Banagh a few times, but I warned you I was a name driopper. Seriously tho’, with him directing, Thor’s a sure winner

Of course, my previous tweet revealed the extent of my innate modesty. I really wanted to add “With me doing a cameo, Thor’s a sure winner”

In April Venom spin-off writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick said that they’ve handed in a draft of the script to Sony and were waiting for feedback, however they couldn’t reveal any details for obvious reasons. Now SHH managed to speak to them again and they did reveal one thing. Stan Lee will be making an appearance in the film.

“Oh, yeah. Stan Lee is in it,” Reese told us. “I feel like that’s the one thing we can say. He does appear in our script, and we’re very specific about where he is and why. May he live forever. Let’s hope he’s in many movies to come.”

Stan Lee has been making cameos in Marvel films ever since the first X-Men movie back in 2000, so we can expect him to keep this tradition up for many years. I imagine he’ll be popping up in Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, even if he wasn’t directly association with the characters during his comic book career.

Could this be the reason Marvel gave Mickey Rourke a low offer for Iron Man 2?

According to ComingSoon.net Stan Lee, his partner Arthur Lieberman, Marvel Entertainment Inc. and its chairman Isaac Perlmutter, and former Marvel Studios president Avi Arad are all getting suit for $750 million.

Shareholders of an ill-fated Stan Lee venture are seeking more than $750 million in profits from films and other works based on Marvel comic characters such as “Spider-Man,”"X-Men” and “Iron Man.”

The lawsuit claims profits from Lee’s comic creations belong to the company, which emerged from bankruptcy in 2006. The suit claims Lee, Marvel and others have violated Stan Lee Media’s copyright interests and that the firm is due profits from all properties, including blockbuster films that were made after 1998 and based on Lee’s creations.

The lawsuit’s allegations were immediately rebuffed, with Marvel issuing a statement that said the lawsuit is filled with “ridiculous claims.”

[Lawyer Martin Garbus] suspects that Lee, who once sued Marvel over profits from his creations, entered into an agreement that deprived Stan Lee Media of the windfall from blockbuster movies such as the “Spider-Man” and “X-Men” trilogies.

Producer of the X-Men trilogy, Lauren Shuler Donner, recently spoke to SHH about X-Men Origins: Wolverine, director Gavin Hood and her hopes for a Deadpool movie.

CS/SHH!: What’s the latest you can tell us about “Wolverine”?
Lauren Schuler Donner: May 1st, 2009! I guess it’s closer to the first “X-Men” in tone because it’s a little darker, but there’s a lot of action. It’s his origin story. It’s really good. I’ve been in the editing room the last couple of weeks and I think that it’s good and that audiences are going to like it. But it’s a little darker.

CS/SHH!: How is Hugh Jackman’s interpretation of the character different or new, compared to what we’ve seen in the “X-Men” films?
Schuler Donner: Well, you haven’t seen this side of him. It’s darker and sadder and it’s kick-ass. There’s a ton of action. It’s really kick-ass.

CS/SHH!: How was working with Gavin Hood as the director?
Schuler Donner: It was fun. It was good. I like taking someone out of the indie world and bringing someone into the action world because it grounds the movie. It gives it a reality. It gives it an emotional core, and then you can have as much fun and action in it as you want.

CS/SHH!: This was Gavin’s first time playing with really big cinematic toys. Was there a learning curve on that for him?
Schuler Donner: Yeah. He had a learning curve, but the thing basically for the director, honestly, it’s sort of like, “Here’s what I want…” and then the visual FX guys create that. Then it’s like, “No. I want it more like this or like that.” A director doesn’t have to know how to do it. They have to know about lighting and shooting someone against green screen and that sort of stuff, but in terms of actually creating it, we do that.

CS/SHH!: And Ryan Reynolds is playing Deadpool.
Schuler Donner: Yes. Ryan Reynolds is playing Deadpool… he plays Wade Wilson.

CS/SHH!: Is that in hopes of a “Deadpool” spin-off film?
Schuler Donner: I hope so. I really hope so. He’s so good at it.

She also said that Stan Lee wouldn’t be having cameo appearance in the film, mainly because they were filming in Australia. However, she said they were filming more scenes in January so he could end up make an appearance.

However, an even bigger shock to the system is that Paris Hilton and Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, The Hulk, Iron Man and the X-Men, are working with MTV on a mutant-geared animated series.

“We’re developing that right now and just going over scripts and drawing my character,” Hilton told us. “I fight crime.”

“It’s not like your typical superhero,” she promised of her Lee-created character. “It’s me basically as a superhero, so kind of using makeup and compacts as weapons. It’s kind of like a spoof on a superhero.”
