Speed Racer’s numbers aren’t that great, so the chances are most people missed out on the chance to see a whole new trailer for The Incredible Hulk. Luckily for us, someone YouTubed it, and you can see it below!

Lots more action, better effects and a helluva lot more roaring!

The Wachowski Brothers’ action “family” flick has officially become the summer’s first Box Office BOMB!

That’s right! This $100 million film has grossed an embarrassing $6.1 mil in 3,606 theatres this Friday, making the weekend estimate a mere $20-23 million. Ouch! Early IMDb scores rank Speed at about a 6.

I’m guessing Warner Bros. isn’t too happy right now!

On the other hand, Paramount is THRILLED with Speed‘s failure, because that means more loot for The Man. Iron Man that is! The blockbuster smash, which was recently reported to be the second biggest opening for a non-sequel EVER, made another $15 million on Friday, bringing its domestic total up to about $141 million for the first week, and making estimates for another $50 million over this weekend! To peace!

Sorry, Wachowski Brothers. Better luck next time.

I don’t know how I feel about this. All I can say is that I hope the rest of the movie gets better than these first seven minutes! Reviews for the movie have NOT been very good, and it is only expected to open at $25-30 million this weekend… meaning that Iron Man could possibly be #1 for a second week in a row! Even with a 60% revenue drop, it could still being in another $40 mil, easy.

The Hollywood Reporter have announced that Naomie Harris and Rick Yune have joined Ninja Assassin. The film is apparently filming as you read this, and is being produced by Speed Racer directors, the Wachowski Brothers. V for Vendetta director James McTeigue will be sat in the directors chair, for what apparently is an original film. No comic books, no graphic novels, no novel, no anything. A writer has actually been paid to use his imagination for once!

The title of the film is a good indication of what we may get, producer Joel Silver has described it as a “full on martial arts movie.” He also says it’s has the theme of revenge running through it.

It certainly sounds interesting. Naomie Harris is best known for her role as Tia Dalma in the Pirates of the Caribean trilogy. She has also appeared in the amazing 28 Days Later and more recently, Street Kings.
Rick Yune is best known for being a Bond villain in Die Another Day, who had the unfortunate (or fortunate depending on how you look at it) accident involving diamonds blowing up in his face, and embedding themselves there.

Rick Yune spoke of his role:

“Not to give too much away, (but) my character stays within what he was brought up with, and they go up against each other,” Yune said. “I’m not a heavy. The characters are ninjas, they are assassins, and there’s this mix of morality the Wachowskis are exploring.”

Warner Brothers have yet to announce a release date, but I’m guessing we will see this sometime in 2009.

No doubt everyone will be seeing the amazing colour-fest that is Speed Racer, when it finally arrives next week. And as everyone will be seeing it, lots and lots of money will be rolling into Warner Bros bank account, and a sequel will no doubt be on the cards, or should I say tracks…

Christina Ricci, who plays Trixie, Speed’s loyal and ultra cool girlfriend in the movie, spoke to SHH about the possibility of a Speed Racer 2.

“Larry and Andy created a world that they love and created characters that they loved and are attached to. When we were all leaving, we were like ‘write the sequel!’ ‘We want to come back’. And they were like, ‘I know. I know. We’re going to. Don’t worry’. They were as sad for it to be over as we were.”

When asked if she thought the Wachowskis would jump right back into another film she excitedly told us yes!

“Yeah, definitely. Yes, that’s definitely the impression I got.”

As far as how many sequels she’s signed on for, Ricci was rather coy about that.

“I don’t know. You don’t have to sign up for them. It’s more like if this movie does well, they’ll make another one. But, I’m not really sure. I don’t pay attention to that stuff.”

Hot on the heels (or should I say wheels) of the extended international trailer, comes a four minute sneak peak at Speed Racer. I wouldn’t necessarily call four minutes a ‘sneak’ but now is not the time to get technical! The ‘sneak peak’ shows us lots of new scenes, interviews with the cast and behind the scenes footage. Today we are graced with a new international trailer for Speed Racer. This trailer nicely slots alongside the other trailers we have got. All 300 of them. Before we have been treated to lots of colourful flipping cars, a monkey and Christina Ricci. However, this time we have been given LOTS of colourful flipping cars, no monkey, 1 second of Christina Ricci and a bit more dialogue explaining the story. You know a movie is going to have amazing action and special effects when the lead actress, whom they have paid millions, is only in the trailer for 1 second. Warner Brothers have also made a risky marketing move by not showing Chim Chim the monkey, as I hear approval rates of monkeys internationally has risen 43% since last November.

Now after watching that amazing colourfest you think to yourself, ‘Hmm…I do believe I have heard the music that starts around the 1:33 mark before’, then you would be correct. It is called ‘Birthright’ by Celldweller and is the ‘latest thing’ regarding movie trailer music. It has been on nearly all of the Speed Racer trailers, and a couple of Iron Man ones too. I have lost count how many Speed Racer posters we have got, but it is obviously not enough for Warner Bros who have just released three more. As usual, lots of colour, lots of cars and lots of confused people in theatres who think they are high!

Another movie, another set of images. This time they come from EW who have a preview of The Wachowski Brothers’ Speed Racer. Even though this movie is a remake of a 1960′s cartoon, it looks amazing. The Wachowski Brothers’ made everyone say ‘ooooo’ with The Matrix and will probably make people say ‘ahhhh’ with Speed Racer.
