In a lengthy post about shooting The Hobbit at 48 frames per second earlier this week director Peter Jackson said a video from the set was on its way, and now it is here. All 10 minutes of it.

In the video, titled ‘Start of Production’, Jackson shows us around various sets including Bag End (the home of Bilbo Baggins), Elrond’s Chambers and The Goblin Tunnels. We also get a peak at the costume department, and we see all the dwarf actors, along with Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman, preparing for a scene. It’s a must watch for all Lord of the Rings fans.

The production will be posting many more videos like this over the next few years, so follow Peter Jackson on Facebook for the latest on the movie.

The Hobbit follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen), Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild (Richard Armitage). Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Being a large entertainment company with many divisions has its advantages, one being that you can give yourself exclusives. The Disney Channel today released a short “Movie Surfers” video from behind the scenes of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which features footage from the set and an interview with Johnny Depp.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will include “zombies, cutthroats, mermaids and… Penelope Cruz” as Jack Sparrow and Barbossa sail to find the Fountain of Youth under the orders of King George II, only to find Blackbeard (Ian McShane) is after it too. Cruz plays Blackbeard’s daughter who is a woman from Sparrow’s past and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s just using him to find the Fountain of Youth.

Cameras have just started rolling on Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, and JustJared managed to take some images of Emma Stone and the crew shooting a scene in Los Angeles. The scene involves Gwen Stacy shielding herself from (fake) rain at what appears to be a funeral.

Entertainment Tonight have released a 5 minute behind the scenes video from their visit to the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. We see Johnny Depp filming a carriage stunt on the streets of England, Penelope Cruz filming scenes with Captain Jack, and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa warning his crew about mermaids who have a hunger for the “flesh of man”.

During filming of Captain America: The First Avenger this week in Manchester, England locals and photographers managed to take a few snaps of the action, and we now have our first look at Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Hayley Atwell in costume as Peggy Carter.

Back in August it was reported parts of Manchester would be transformed into 1940s New York for a dramatic car chase, and it looks like part of the chase was filmed this week. A video from the set, which you can watch below, shows Evans (wearing flesh colored prosthetic feet) running full speed after a car.

Now is a good time to be a photographer in England. Not only is X-Men: First Class currently filming but Captain America: The First Avengers is also in production, which is providing opportunities for on-set snaps.

The Daily Mail managed to get some images of motorbike scenes being filmed just outside on London, one of which you can see above. Chris Evans wasn’t involved so the costume is looking slightly larger to accommodate the stunt man, but it gives us an idea what Captain America will look like.

The scene involves a motorbike chase between Steve Rogers and agents of H.Y.D.R.A., as pictured in the image below:

We have still yet to see an official image of Chris Evans in costume, but hopefully these image leaks will spur Marvel into releasing a few.

SHH directed us to some recent images from the set of Captain America: The First Avenger. The images were taken on Sunday (August 22nd) and show extras in period clothing filming a scene at Trafalgar Square in London, England (a busy tourist location during the week).

From the looks of things the scene takes place on VE Day, which is the date the World War II Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich.

Images removed at the request of 20th Century Fox

Filming on 20th Century Fox’s Rise of the Apes is currently underway and Freida Pinto Fan managed to get a hold of some photos from the set. The images show Freida Pinto and James Franco walking alongside Andy Serkis in his motion capture costume.

James Franco is playing a young, driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes, with Freida Pinto playing a primatologist (and love interest from the looks of it). Serkis is playing Caesar, a hyper-intelligent chimp raised by humans who incites a worldwide ape revolution and causes the downfall of humankind.

Filming on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has been underway for a few weeks now, and some residents of the Hawaiian Island of Oahu managed to get up close to where the action was taking place.

Captain Jack Sparrow was nowhere to be seen, but they did manage to film some rehearsal fight scenes on-board a ship, and a scene involving Barbossa and Gibbs (Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally).

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is filming this week on Oahu near the Blowhole at Halona Cove. Security was allowing the public to watch and use cameras at first, but later kept everyone away. Here’s some footage I shot on July 15, 2010, with my digital camera in video mode (sorry, quality could be better). I didn’t spot Johnny Depp, but the main actor in front of the camera appears to be Geoffrey Rush. Cool how they make it rain with the huge sprinkler. The “Pirate Song” is from “Long John Silver’s Return to Treasure Island” (1954).

Joining Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush on the next outing will be Ian McShane as Blackbeard, Penelope Cruz (who plays his daughter), Stephen Graham as Scram, Astrid Berges-Frisbey as mermaid Syrena and Sam Claflin as “a youthful missionary”.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will follow Jack Sparrow and Barbossa as they sail to find the fountain of youth together, only to find that Blackbeard is after it too.

Last week Entertainment Tonight posted a 5 minutes video from the set of Iron Man 2. It contained interviews from all the cast and a look at some behind the scenes action from the Monaco Grand Prix set. Now they another video to present to the world which focuses on Mickey Rourke and his whips. While the video is shorter, it’s for more interesting than listen to Gwyneth Paltrow talking about how good she feels and her children. I’m sure her children are lovely, but this is Iron Man 2 and i’m sure everyone would rather see Mickey Rourke smashing up cars!
