Russell Crowe will be playing both The Sheriff of Nottingham AND Robin Hood in Nottingham, according to director Ridley Scott. We had heard about this possibility before, however now it has been confirmed by the director himself.

The news comes straight from the helmer himself, with Scott revealing “He’s playing both!” exclusively to MTV News during an interview for his new film “Body of Lies,” which co-stars Crowe. While Scott held additional details close to his chest — saying they would take too long to describe — he did exclaim that Crowe’s dual roles would be “a good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes.”

This is certainly interesting and I look forward to see how it will work out on screen. Nottingham was set to begin filming this year, however it got delayed because the ‘leaves were not green enough’ in Sherwood Forest at this time of year. I suppose that is a good enough reason, but you would have thought with today’s technology they could have worked around it somehow.

Anyway, expect Nottingham staring Russell Crowe, Sienna Miller and Russell Crowe, to begin filming when the leaves are the right shade of green again.

Russell Crowe spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald about the recently postponed Nottingham, which is to be directed by Ridley Scott. He told them what he would be getting up to now the movie is delayed, and confirmed that Mother Nature was a reason for the delay in filming.

RUSSELL Crowe is looking forward to bonus time in Australia after the postponement of filming for his next project, Nottingham.

The Oscar winner said it would be at least seven months before the film gets off the ground in England, allowing him to spend more time at his Woolloomooloo home with wife, Danielle Spencer, and sons, Charlie, 4, and Tennyson, 2, and working on other projects.

“More time in Australia is always a bonus,” Crowe said last week.

It is understood he is considering playing the main role of Hicks — a controversial and brilliant American comedian who battled drug and alcohol abuse before dying from cancer at 32. Crowe confirmed Nottingham would not go ahead until March next year because director Sir Ridley Scott wanted the leaves on the trees in England’s Sherwood Forest to be the right colour.

Sienna Miller was recently cast as Maid Marion, so we will have to see if that will still be the case next March. The film was going to take a different approach on the well known story. Instead of having Robin Hood as the heroic vigilante who steals from the rich and gives to the poor, the film would focus on what a thieving bastard he was and put the audience on he Sheriff’s side for once.

It appears Robin Hood and his merry men have galloped face first into the tree of delay. The Hollywood Reporter say that the Ridley Scott film staring Russell Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham has been put on hold. It was supposed to start filming mid-August in London and it is not certain whether the delay is temporary or permanent. Universal have been wary of the SAG negotiations although it is not known what has caused Universal to apply the brakes now.

The BBC recently spoke with Sienna Miller who revealed that she will be playing the role of Maid Marian in the Ridley Scott movie Nottingham. Miller will star alongside Russell Crowe, who is expected to play the Sheriff of Nottingham.

“It’s happening. I just found out. It’s the most exciting news in the world.”

She added: “It’s ridiculous. But there’s this looming actor’s strike, so it’s not 100% sure that it’s going to be made, but it’s looking pretty certain.”

Miller, who is currently promoting her new film The Edge of Love, said she “could not have a better part” and working with Crowe and Ridley was “as good as it gets”.

To say she only became famous because Jude Law cheated on her with a nanny is quite good. She’s got some decent roles out of it, including G.I Joe where she gets to wear leather and look good all day. Maybe her role as Maid Marian is a way of her saying ‘Yes, I am sexy as hell and allowed someone famous to penertate me but that doesn’t mean I cant pretend to be someone else. By that I mean act’.

I suppose we’ll have to wait to see what the situation with the actors strike is before we hear anything concrete on Nottingham. I wonder who will end up playing Robin Hood? Jude Law?
