Ninja Assassin is released today in the US and to drum up some last minute interest Warner Bros. provided IGN with a red band trailer for the film. It contains lots of blood (CGI blood that is), stabbing, shooting and gore.

Meanwhile reviews for the film are pouring in and most of them are mixed/negative, which is disappointing.

Rain and Harris are decent and there are moments of stylized lunacy that nearly work, but Ninja Assassin is a film that falls apart as soon as you think about any single element of it.

Ninja Assassin is wildly improbable and completely unrealistic, but it’s also bloody good fun.

Thanks to the movie’s dire script, flat performances and excessively slick, tricked-out fight scenes, it gets increasingly hard to care about anything that goes on here, even when it happens to be visible without the use of night-vision goggles.

Seemingly made to capitalize on a dubious CG innovation — namely, the slicing of bodies in half by whizzing five-pointed stars — Ninja Assassin has little else to recommend it, not even laughs.

There’s just over a month until Ninja Assassin will be released and Warner Bros. are starting to marketing the film to ‘everyone else’ who isn’t already aware of it thanks to the internet. Below is a second TV spot and it contains lots of chains, fire and ninja stuff.

According to the current poll 46% of Filmonic readers have Ninja Assassin as their most anticipated film for the rest of 2009, so based on that fact I think there will be a few people who may like this. It’s the Ninja Assassin trailer… but lego-ized. I have no idea how they did it and I’m sure it took a while, however it’s quite amazing. Watch below!

We finally have a trailer for Ninja Assassin, and it doesn’t disappoint! For a few months it looked like Warner Bros. were unsure when to release the film and how to market it, however they then set a November 25th release date and this first trailer shows they sure as hell know how to market it. Warner Bros have finally chosen a solid release date for the Wachowski brothers Ninja Assassin. According to Dark Horizons:

Ninja Assassin
The James McTiegue-directed action-thriller starring Korean pop messiah Rain has been scheduled for November 25th 2009

That is 5 days after The Twilight Saga’s New Moon is released, so hopefully it won’t be consumed by the vampire frenzy. The new release date means we probably won’t be getting a trailer for a while, so it looks like we’ll have to wait before we get our first look.

MTV will have the final X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer tomorrow at 12pm EST (5pm GMT). Below is a sneak peak (note that Gambit now has his trademark red eyes. Fanboys rejoice)

There are also rumblings that we will finally get our first look at Ninja Assassin, with a trailer expected in front of Watchmen. Both are Warner Bros. films so it makes sense.

It appears we finally have a release date for Ninja Assassin! According to Fandango the movie will be released on June 1st 2009, which means we have around 4 months to go. Hopefully this means we will see a trailer for this sometime soon.

We haven’t heard that much about Ninja Assassin recently. The release date was thought to be January 2009 but according to producer Joel Silver that was never the case. Yesterday Warner Bros. revealed their 2009 line-up which featured Ninja Assassin, however no date was specified. Apparently lead actor Rain is involved in some legal trouble and they don’t want to be releasing the movie while he is busy in court. Nevertheless, a cool new video showing Rain training and practising his stunts has Youtubed it’s way online. It is VERY impressive. Who would have thought Rain was just a popstar from South Korea?
