We got the main details from the Skyfall press conference earlier today, and now Digital Spy have uploaded the full press conference for all to see.

The panel includes director Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe, along with producers Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli.

In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

A press conference for Bond 23 was held this morning in London, and it was confirmed that the movie will be called Skyfall, a title which producer Barbara Broccoli said “has an emotional context which will be revealed in the film”.

Director Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig were in attendance, as were Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe, confirming their involvement in the film. Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Ben Whishaw were also announced as cast members.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today presented the cast of the 23rd James Bond adventure, entitled SKYFALL. The film, from Albert R. Broccoli’s Eon Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is directed by Academy Award® winner Sam Mendes and stars Daniel Craig, who returns for his third film as James Bond 007. The screenplay is written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and John Logan. SKYFALL, which goes into production on Monday, November 7th, will begin its worldwide roll-out in the UK and Ireland on October 26th 2012 and in North America on November 9th 2012.

Joining Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Director Sam Mendes were members of the cast of SKYFALL, including: Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe. The filmmakers also announced Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Ben Whishaw.

“We’re so delighted to have Sam Mendes direct SKYFALL and be working once again with Daniel Craig. We’ve a great script, an extraordinary cast and an incredibly talented creative team for this latest James Bond adventure,” said Wilson and Broccoli.

The Director of Photography is Roger Deakins, a nine-time Oscar® nominee who previously shot the films Jarhead and Revolutionary Road for Mendes. The Production Designer is Oscar® winner Dennis Gassner, who previously designed Quantum of Solace and collaborated with Mendes on the films Road to Perdition and Jarhead. The Editor is Stuart Baird, A.C.E., whose many credits include Casino Royale. Jany Temime, whose many credits include the Harry Potter series, In Bruges, and Children of Men, is the Costume Designer. Action specialist Alexander Witt is the 2nd Unit Director. Gary Powell is Stunt Co-ordinator, Chris Corbould is SFX Supervisor and Steve Begg is Visual Effects Supervisor, all of whom have worked on previous Bond films.

It’s good to finally have a brief synopsis for the film. During the press conference Mendes and the cast kept plot details to themselves, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Mendes said the storyline will take 007 to London, China, Turkey and Scotland, and it had “”all the elements of a classic Bond movie, including – to quell any rumours – lots of action”.

Sam Mendes is assembling quite an impressive cast for Bond 23. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were confirmed from the start, and they’ve since been joined by Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) as Moneypenny, Javier Bardem as the villain and Ralph Fiennes in ‘a darkly complex’ role.

Now The Daily Mail has word that French actress Berenice Marlohe “has screen tested for Mendes at Pinewood Studios and met with approval”, which makes her the new Bond Girl (or one of them). Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy in Harry Potter) and Ben Whishaw (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) are also said to have joined the cast in yet unspecified roles.

There has also been speculation over recent days regarding the title of the next Bond film. WhatCulture noticed that Sony Pictures had registered domain names such as jamesbond-skyfall.com, skyfallmovie.net and skyfall-themovie.com which suggests Skyfall could be the Bond 23 title. Some have said this could be for an upcoming James Bond video game, but either way Sony will likely confirm the official title shortly.

Filming is set to begin any day now, with a November 2012 release date set.

Last month Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, Pirates of the Caribbean) confirmed that she had met with director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli regarding a role in Bond 23. Some thought she’d be up for the Bond girl role, but now it looks like the actress will be playing Moneypenny.

According to The Daily Mail (via Playlist) Harris is “poised” to appear in Bond 23 as Moneypenny, which means she isn’t confirmed yet but it’s likely. Moneypenny, secretary to M (Judi Dench), hasn’t been seen in a Bond movie since Samantha Bond played her in Die Another Day back in 2002. The casting of Naomie Harris suggests Sam Mendes will be doing something different with the character, and she’ll probably have a larger role than in previous films (possibly getting out of the office environment in the process).

The site also suggests Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes, who were previously thought to be up for roles, are locked. With The Dark Tower delayed until next year it appears Bardem has been freed up for Bond. No details have been revealed as to whom he will play, although Bardem confirmed it would be a villain. Bardem played a villain in his Oscar-winning turn in No Country For Old Men two years ago so he’s no stranger to this type of role.

As for Ralph Fiennes, next seen as Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, his role is said to be ‘a darkly complex’ one, and Mendes approached him because “the part is one of extreme complexity and only an actor of great ability and dexterity can take it on”.

Filming is set to begin later this year for an October 2012 release, and with a cast like this Bond 23 is looking very promising.

Two weeks ago speculation hit the web that British actress Naomie Harris (Ninja Assassin) was being considered to star as a Bond girl in Bond 23. Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Harris had met with the filmmakers, although no deals had been struck.

While on the rounds promoting The First Grader which opens in the UK on Friday Harris revealed that she has indeed met with director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli, however they haven’t told her anything about the potential role.

“Nothing is confirmed as yet,” she told Digital Spy. “It’s amazing to me that everyone’s running with it, ‘You’re the next Bond girl!’

“For starters I don’t even know what role I’d be playing because you don’t get given the script when you audition for Bond. You get given a scene from a previous Bond movie.

“I have no idea what role I’d be playing, I don’t know whether it would be a Bond girl, no offers or anything have come out. I’d love to be part of Bond, I’m not going to deny that, but I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

I’ve been a fan of Harris since she kicked some zombie butt as Selena in Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later. She has since appeared in films such as Miami Vice and played Tia Dalma in Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3, and Harris would be a great addition to Bond 23 as a Bond girl (which is likely the role she’s up for).

Not much is known about the plot, but production will begin later this year and it was reported in April that director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli had visited South Africa to scout locations.

Ninja Assassin is released today in the US and to drum up some last minute interest Warner Bros. provided IGN with a red band trailer for the film. It contains lots of blood (CGI blood that is), stabbing, shooting and gore.

Meanwhile reviews for the film are pouring in and most of them are mixed/negative, which is disappointing.

Rain and Harris are decent and there are moments of stylized lunacy that nearly work, but Ninja Assassin is a film that falls apart as soon as you think about any single element of it.

Ninja Assassin is wildly improbable and completely unrealistic, but it’s also bloody good fun.

Thanks to the movie’s dire script, flat performances and excessively slick, tricked-out fight scenes, it gets increasingly hard to care about anything that goes on here, even when it happens to be visible without the use of night-vision goggles.

Seemingly made to capitalize on a dubious CG innovation — namely, the slicing of bodies in half by whizzing five-pointed stars — Ninja Assassin has little else to recommend it, not even laughs.

We finally have a trailer for Ninja Assassin, and it doesn’t disappoint! For a few months it looked like Warner Bros. were unsure when to release the film and how to market it, however they then set a November 25th release date and this first trailer shows they sure as hell know how to market it. It appears we finally have a release date for Ninja Assassin! According to Fandango the movie will be released on June 1st 2009, which means we have around 4 months to go. Hopefully this means we will see a trailer for this sometime soon.

We haven’t heard that much about Ninja Assassin recently. The release date was thought to be January 2009 but according to producer Joel Silver that was never the case. Yesterday Warner Bros. revealed their 2009 line-up which featured Ninja Assassin, however no date was specified. Apparently lead actor Rain is involved in some legal trouble and they don’t want to be releasing the movie while he is busy in court. Nevertheless, a cool new video showing Rain training and practising his stunts has Youtubed it’s way online. It is VERY impressive. Who would have thought Rain was just a popstar from South Korea?
