“LOST” fans rejoice. Josh Holloway, who played rouge con man Sawyer for all six seasons of the highly celebrated ABC television show, is in final negotiations to join Paramount’s upcoming installment of the Mission: Impossible series. More after the jump.

Holloway’s specific role in the film is being kept under wraps, but he’ll be another addition to the already-impressive Impossible Mission Force, the secret agency spearheaded by Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. Other members of the team include returning players Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg and newcomers Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, and Vladimir Mashkov. (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Michael Nyqvist recently joined the cast as a villain.)

The Holloway connection is a natural one, since J.J. Abrams (who directed MI: 3) is executive producing the fourth film alongside Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner, and also exec produced “LOST.” Abrams directed the pilot episode of the series, which still holds the record as the most expensive television pilot ever filmed. Abrams also helped craft the story for the as-yet-untitled MI: 4, working with writers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec.

The film will be directed by The Incredibles helmer Brad Bird, making his live-action directorial debut. I’m really getting excited about this project based on the casting; I’m certain Holloway’s smart-aleck remarks will balance out the comedic relief section of the film alongside Simon Pegg, and both actors are also capable of pulling off physical performances when necessary.

Paramount has set a December 16th, 2011 release date for the film, which will be filming all over the world very soon.

Oh my god. It’s starting. And I’m so excited.

The summer of 2006 was filled with Lost for me. Not only did I make a Lost fan film (check it out on my website!), but I became very much involved in ‘The Lost Experience.’ This summer long time waster was one of those ‘alternative reality games’ that a lot of people are using to market their goods these days (I’m looking at you, Cloverfield. Funny how they are both JJ projects). Mysterious symbols, candy bars, orientation videos, Rachel Blake, and all other things starting popping up on the Internet AND the real world. The game sucked many hardcore Lost viewers in, and didn’t spit them out until September. And damn it, it was fun. The live DJ Dan radio broadcast that served as the finale was the highlight for many fans (especially me, because I called in and got on the air!).

And when it was all over, fans wondered “Will it happen again?”

And now, my friends, your prayers have been answered. It looks as if it WILL be happening again. And soon. Like, in a few days soon.

ABC has just released this press release, and boy, does it make me excited!

This is the sort of stuff that us hardcore Lost fans live for. I really can’t wait to see what they have in store for us before the new season starts. This just gets me more and more excited.

ABC has just announced that new episodes of Lost will begin on January 31st, 2008, at 9 PM.

That’s right, folks. We now know when exactly when to start waiting for.

On another note, some of you may realize that January 31st is a THURSDAY. Lost has changed nights, and went back to it’s original time slot. I, for one, am happy about that. Fantastic move on ABC’s part.

We’re still a couple of months away, but I’m already salivating over the idea of new episodes of Lost. I got my Season 3 DVDs yesterday (and my review should be up before the week is out!). This month, ABC started showing a ‘trailer’ for the new season in movie theaters across America. Well, in case you were wondering what it looked like, look no further.

I must have watched those 30 seconds more than fifteen times by now. I’m obsessed. Sure, it’s a mix of old stuff, but there are a bunch of new bits in there. Like what was that skull from? Is Hurley looking into the house that Jacob resides? Who was the man that flashed on the screen briefly? AND WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SMOKE MONSTER?!

Anyway, the new (and more than likely, truncated) season begins February 2008.

And it can’t get here sooner.

Sorta.

Sorry to get your hopes up. But at least I’m not completely wrong.

According to Entertainment Weekly, those Lost ‘mobisodes’ that were originally intended for Verizon Wireless customers have been finished. You know what I’m talking about, right? Come on, remember about a year ago when they said they were going to have two to three minute mobisodes, and then we never heard anything about them again? Really? Oh, well, I guess I’m just a hardcore Lost nerd then. Seriously. It’s my favorite show, I’m allowed to be geeky, alright?

Anyways, yes, we shall begin getting our daily Lost fix, albeit in small doses, starting THIS Monday, November 12th. The series is collectively known as “Missing Pieces,” and are NOT just deleted scenes. These are newly shot pieces that apparently fit into the saga that is Lost. No word yet on where and when these pieces fit exactly, but frankly, I could care less. It’s new Lost. That’s all I want.

This is good news, seeing as how the series itself has only shot half of its upcoming season, and the rest of it hangs in the balance, pending the end of the WGA Strike (what else is new?).

You can check out “Missing Pieces” every Monday at ABC.com.

This week’s installment is called “The Watch” and is Jack-centric.
