Daniel Radcliffe, next seen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, will be making a guest appearance in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons but he will not be playing himself nor Harry Potter. Instead, Radcliffe will be voicing Edmund the vampire, a clear spoof of Twilight and Robert Pattinson’s character Edward Cullen.

Spoiler TV got the first image of the character, which you can see above.

The episode, titled Treehouse of Horror XXI will air on Fox in the US on November 7th. Here’s the synopsis for the episode:

Beware of ouija boards, vampires, and unexpected guests in the 21st annual installment of the “Treehouse of Horror.” In “War and Pieces,” the first of three spine-tingling tales, Marge (Julie Kavner), worried about the effects of excessively violent video games, encourages Bart (Nancy Cartwright) and Milhouse (Pamela Hayden) to give wholesome, classic board games a shot. The best friends discover that board games aren’t boring after all when they find themselves playing a real-life game in which they must beat all the challenges before they are allowed to return to home.

The supernatural spells continue in “Tweenlight,” when Lisa (Yeardley Smith) becomes smitten with a mysterious new student, Edmund (guest voice Daniel Radcliffe), who also happens to be a vampire. When a romance blossoms, the young lovers run away to Dracula-la Land, leaving Homer (Dan Castellaneta) to come to Lisa’s rescue.

In the final frightening fable, “Master and Cadaver,” Homer and Marge set sail on a romantic second honeymoon, but are interrupted when they rescue Roger (guest voice Hugh Laurie), a castaway who escaped an attempted poisoning on his ship. Convinced that Roger is sabotaging their getaway and plotting a murder of his own, Homer and Marge take matters into their own hands.

Read similar posts to Daniel Radcliffe will play Edmund the vampire in The Simpsons on Filmonic

Chinese woman is emotionally damaged from excessive advertisements

Movie News

Controversy

LOL

Whenever we go to see a movie it is common place to see advertisements before the showing. Personally i’m not too bothered by them as they only last around 5 minutes and then we get to see the latest trailers, but it seems not everyone is happy about them.

According to The Calgary Herald a Chinese woman is suing the distributors of earthquake movie Aftershocks and the place she saw the movie “for wasting her time by showing 20 minutes of commercials” and claims they “should have told her how long the pre-movie advertisements lasted”.

Chen Xiaomei is demanding the companies refund her 35-yuan ticket (5.20 dollars), pay her 35 yuan in compensation and one yuan for emotional damages and write her an apology, the report said. She has also advised the cinema to publish the advertisement times on its website, in the lobby or on its customer hotline and asked Huayi Brothers to cut the length of commercials to less than five minutes.

20 minutes is rather excessive, although if I were emotionally damaged as a result i’d want more than one yuan (0.147262 U.S. dollars).

After doing a little research on the movie I can understand why she was annoyed with the 20 minute wait. Aftershocks is the first IMAX film made in China and has become the highest-grossing domestic film, raking in 650 million yuan ($95 million). It’s the Chinese Avatar basically.

The film is based on the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, which killed 240,000 people in Tangshan in northern China. The story centers on a mother who has to decide which of her two children to save from the rubble. Between the twin boy and girl, she opts for the boy. The mother is unaware her daughter is still alive and hears the decision. (And she isn’t suing for emotional damage from this!?)

You can watch the cool trailer below. It looks like 2012, just not a comedy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QntkZ1R9yTM

Read similar posts to Chinese woman is emotionally damaged from excessive advertisements on Filmonic

How to make a Michael Cera movie

Movie News

LOL

Michael Cera

Have you noticed how Michael Cera always seems to play the same character in most of his movies? They’ve given it a “black lung”, along with the following review:

In the world of Avatar, everything is modern and technologically forward, but obviously the creators were not thinking forward when they included smoking in several scenes of the movie.

One of their main issues comes from a scene where Dr. Grace Augustine, played by Sigourney Weaver, is seen smoking on-screen after coming out of her mind transporting/fridge/incubator machine. She clearly hadn’t smoked up in a while, and she was craving one like most smokers do. When I watched the scene I acknowledged that she was smoking, and I remember it quite clearly, however I thought it added to her ‘pissed off scientist working for idiots’ character, and it shouldn’t really be an issue.

Thankfully, James Cameron took time out of counting up Avatar‘s box office gross to address this issue:

In a statement sent by e-mail over the weekend, Mr. Cameron said he had never intended Ms. Weaver’s character, Grace Augustine, to be “an aspirational role model” for teenagers.

“She’s rude, she swears, she drinks, she smokes,” wrote Mr. Cameron. “Also, from a character perspective, we were showing that Grace doesn’t care about her human body, only her avatar body, which again is a negative comment about people in our real world living too much in their avatars, meaning online and in video games.”

Speaking as an artist, Mr. Cameron said: “I don’t believe in the dogmatic idea that no one in a movie should smoke. Movies should reflect reality. If it’s O.K. for people to lie, cheat, steal and kill in PG-13 movies, why impose an inconsistent morality when it comes to smoking? I do agree that young role-model characters should not smoke in movies, especially in a way which suggests that it makes them cooler or more accepted by their peers.”

Smoking, Mr. Cameron concluded, “is a filthy habit which I don’t support, and neither, I believe, does ‘Avatar.’ ”

Well said Mr. Cameron. I would understand SceneSmoking.org’s frustration if, for example, the main characters from Twilight were seen smoking in a few scenes as lots of young teenage girls watch those movies and they would probably think it was cool. We’d have thousands of young girls sucking on a cigarette like it was Robert Pattinson’s…

Read similar posts to Avatar gets a “black lung” rating on Filmonic

Avatar: The Making of the Bootleg

Cool Stuff

Movie News

Avatar

Coolness

James Cameron

LOL

For years we’ve been hearing about the revolutionary technology being used by James Cameron to make Avatar, but what we haven’t been hearing about is the revolutionary technology used to make the Avatar bootleg.
