Last week we saw the first trailer for the third film in the Twilight frachise, Eclipse, and now we have some behind the scenes footage that will also be on the New Moon DVD (released on March 20th). If, like me, you didn’t really care for all the mushy love stuff in the Eclipse trailer then you may find this footage easier to stomach. We see behind the scenes antics like stunts and green screen filming, along with some of the cast members such as Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson talking about the story.

Directed by David Slade, Eclipse will be released in June and as well as the main trio the film stars Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Dakota Fanning and Bryce Dallas Howard.

We saw 10 seconds of the teaser yesterday, and now Summit Entertainment has released the full teaser trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Watch below:

In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

We live in a world where we get teasers for teaser trailers, although Twilight fans aren’t complaining. Below is a 10 second clip from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse teaser trailer which will debut online in full tomorrow (oh yeah I forgot to mention, you may wish to leave the internet tomorrow. I’ll let you know when/if it’s safe to return).

The clip contains just about everything you’d expect from a Twilight trailer: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart acting all serious about love, aerial shots of Canadian woodland, and Taylor Lautner with no upper body clothing.

Summit Entertainment will be taking a leaf out of Harry Potter’s book and will be splitting the final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn, into two films. According to Deadline Hollywood Summit aim to begin filming later this year, and Melissa Rosenberg (who has written the scripts for all the Twilight films) is currently in the process of adapting the book into screenplay form. They also mention that Summit are looking for “high end” directors to take on Breaking Dawn, which will be filmed back-to-back.

Splitting the film makes sense financially as Summit stand to make another $700+ million (yes, New Moon made over $700 million), and as the Twilight franchise is the main breadwinner for Summit they will need to milk it for all it’s worth.

It is also wise for Summit to be looking for ‘high end’ directors, considering the film could come off as laughable with a poor director in charge. For instance, (spoilers) Bella (Kristen Stewart) becomes pregnant and the baby ends up breaking most of her bones as it has inherited a vampire’s inhuman strength. Then, after Edward (Robert Pattinson) as given Bella a C-Section with his teeth, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) ‘imprints’ on the baby, which basically means he falls in love with it. I haven’t seen any of the films so far, but I may see Breaking Dawn simply to see how they handle it.

Update: New Moon’s gross is currently at $478 million worldwide.

Even though the early consensus from critics isn’t good, New Moon was always expected to dominate the box office this weekend, and so far it has. Spectacularly:

Summit Entertainment just announced its New Moon debuted with $26.27M in 12:01AM screenings from 3,514 theaters. That sets a new midnight opening record, smashing The Dark Knight’s $18.4M on July 18, 2008, and Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince’s $22.2M on July 15, 2009. (Summit’s re-release of Twilight Thursday night in 2,057 dates made $1.3M.) Meanwhile, Fandango tells me that New Moon is trending to sell more than 10 tickets per second on the site throughout the course of today.

Wowza. Those are some dedicated fans.

New Moon is also breaking records overseas:

Summit reported Thursday afternoon that at midnight showings on 466 screens in Australia, the movie took in AUS$1.7 million ($1.6 million). It sailed past the previous Australian midnight record set by “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith,” which took in AUS$1.26 million ($1.2 million) in 2005.

In France, where “Moon” completed its first day, it was No. 1 with 488,000 admissions, translating to $4.26 million, from 751 theaters. By comparison, “Twilight” scored 140,960 admissions, $1.158 million, on its first day in that country.

In Italy, partial returns put the movie’s gross at €$1.83 million ($2.7 million) from 625 screens. The movie is shaping up as the third-highest Wednesday opener in Italy, behind only “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.”

Meanwhile in Spain, “Moon” drew €1.475 million ($2.2 million) on 652 screens. In Spain, it also ranked as the third-best Wednesday opening ever — behind “Order of the Phoenix” and “Half-Blood Prince.”

I think it’s safe to assume New Moon will out-gross Twilight.

As far as New Moon and Twilight trailers go, this new trailer is probably the best. After watching it I got the strange feeling of actually wanting to see the film. I didn’t feel that once for Twilight.

New Moon stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Daktota Fanning. There’s also the guy who played Colossus in the X-Men films. From the looks of things Chris Weitz has done a better job than Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, which should please fans.

Summit Entertainment have released the first poster for The Twilight Saga: New Moon which features Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.

In other Twilight saga news Pattinson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Summit will be moving ahead with a fourth film.

I am sure everyone is fully aware of Twilight and the huge amount of money it has made since it was released. As of now the film has tripled it’s budget, so it’s no surprise Summit Entertainment want to get their fangs out again for a second round. After the huge opening weekend Summit officially greenlight the sequel, New Moon, and now Kristen Stewart told Ryan Seacrest on KiisFM that filming would begin as early as next March.

I haven’t seen Twilight and don’t intend to. Infact I am getting tired of writing the word ‘Twilight’, so it’s a good job the next movie won’t be called ‘Twilight 2′ otherwise I would simply boycott writing about it.
