With a mere $10 million at the worldwide box office Jonah Hex will never make its $50+ million budget back. Warner Bros. tried to improve the movie by bringing in I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence for re-shoots at the beginning of the year, but when it came to marketing Warner Bros. pretty much wrote it off. They have a Harry Potter movie this year, afterall.

Now the promotional rounds are a distant memory Josh Brolin has shared this thoughts on the finished product, and he isn’t a fan.

“Now that I don’t have to promote it? . . . No,” said Brolin when asked if he was proud of “Jonah Hex.”

“We had an original intention and that got away from us a little bit,” he explained. “Everybody did do their best to try and create the best movie with what we had, but I think it got so derailed at a certain point that the assemblage of what we could use was so disconnected to what our original intention was that it just got mixed up.”

Brolin confessed that his feelings about the film made it difficult to promote the finished product — and he even expressed his concerns to the studio’s marketing department prior to the press tour. In the end, however, he said he found a positive angle.

“That’s what I told the marketing people at Warner Bros. I said, ‘I can’t lie about this, so I have to look for a truism that I can go with,” he said. “I do think that if you go in there kind of like with ‘Piranha 3-D’ — when you go to see that movie you go, ‘This is ridiculous and this is fun’ — so if you went into ‘Jonah Hex’ with that, I think you had a good time.”

Fortunately for Brolin this critical and financial bomb shouldn’t have too big of an impact on his career. The actor will begin filming Men in Black 3 alongside Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones later this year, and will be seen in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps on September 24th.

Warner Bros. has released a second trailer for Jonah Hex via IGN. The first trailer was only released a few weeks ago, but the studio need to make up for all the time they haven’t been marketing it due to re-shoots.

I prefer this trailer to the previous one. It contains some cool shots and goes for the ‘badass’ angle, however i’m still not sure if I want to see it. All the re-shoot talk has caused the film to be tainted in my mind and these average-to-good trailers aren’t getting me excited.

The first official Jonah Hex movie trailer has arrived online. Finally. The re-shoots and delay in marketing has lead people to suspect the movie may suck, and it still might, but the trailer is pretty watchable. I was expecting far worse.

The beginning of the trailer is similar to the Ghost Rider teaser trailer. They’ve even used the same music. This may have subconsciously interfered with my viewing as all I could think about is how Jonah Hex looks just as good and as bad as Ghost Rider.

Warner Bros. will be playing catch-up with the marketing for Jonah Hex now, seeing as though there has been pretty much nothing released so far. By the end of this week we will have the first official trailer for the film, and today Yahoo! received the first poster which features Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, John Malkovich and Michael Fassbender.

Megan Fox, who plays a tough, no-nonsense prostitute, said last year that her role is “basically a cameo”, however she was required for reshoots in January so her role may have expanded somewhat.

Last week we heard that the first trailer for Jonah Hex will be shown on the SyFy channel on April 29th, and will then be available online soon after. Well SyFy has been advertising the event and they’ve shown around 11 seconds of footage in the process.

As it is only 11 seconds we don’t see a great deal. There’s an explosion, Megan Fox, a machine gun and Josh Brolin with his Jonah Hex face.

Today we have news that Warner Bros. actually intend to release a trailer for Jonah Hex, the D.C Comics Western starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox, and considering the film will be released in less than 2 months it’s about time!

According to Vulture a trailer will finally make its debut in front of A Nightmare on Elm Street, which opens April 30th. Director Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!) also told them that the “trailer and film are looking great!”.

There were a few concerns over whether the film will suck or not in January when Warner Bros. assembled Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox and Michael Fassbender for a 10 day re-shoot period, with I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence acting as a ‘consultant’. Apparently the inclusion of new scenes was designed to fix certain problems with the movie and beef up the action a little so that it could compete with other big-budget movies.

However Vulture also spoke to Brent Hinds today, the guitarist and singer of heavy-metal band Mastodon which has been recording the film’s soundtrack, and his words weren’t very encouraging.

“What I’ve seen so far doesn’t seem to be finished to me,” says Hinds, adding, “I’d heard a little rumor: ‘This shit ain’t gonna be ready.’ But then again, Warner Bros. is such a f**king bastard. They’re like, ‘The shit comes out on the day it’s supposed to.’ But what do I know? I’m just the dude to whom they’re like, ‘Hey, play some crazy f**kin’ music!’”

The re-shoots, lack of marketing and Hinds’ comments all point towards a film that may be in some trouble. When the trailer hits we should be able to see whether it looks any good, and then we’ll have to see whether Jonah Hex will actually meet its June 18th release date.

Despite Megan Fox saying her role in Jonah Hex is “basically a cameo” she is all over the first poster for the film (as expected).

If you are a fan of Megan Fox then this will be a joyful week for you as she returns to the big screen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, however it looks like you will be disappointed with Megan’s screentime in Jonah Hex which comes out next year as she told MTV that her role as a tough, no-nonsense prostitute isn’t very big at all. (Possible spoilers)

“It’s basically a cameo,” revealed Fox when we spoke with her recently. “She’s a twisted love-interest to Jonah’s character; my part’s pretty small.”

As fans know, Jonah Hex populates a deadly world filled with lies, lead and life-threatening encounters. Which is why Fox’s next statement made it seem even less likely that her character Leila would be returning for those sequels.

“I worked the first week, and then I was shot out of the movie,” explained the beauty, who can be seen in next week’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” “My scenes with Josh were my favorite, because he really pushed me as an actor. He obviously knows what he’s doing.”

While she isn’t a major character in the film i’m sure Warner Bros. will use Megan Fox in as much marketing material as possible. They’d be stupid not too.
