Iron Man Screenwriters Writing Mystery Marvel Film?

Iron Man 2

I got a little confused when it was announced Justin Theroux would be writing Iron Man 2, considering the fact Iron Man was a critical and financial success. You would have thought Marvel would be keen to get writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby back. Instead they hired Robert Downey Jr’s friend and Tropic Thunder writer, Justin Theroux. Well now things seem to be making sense, after Mark Fergus revealed some interesting info to MTV:

“There are some really juicy [movies] that we are very much talking intensely with Marvel about. We’re like, ‘We’re the right guys for this one,’” Fergus revealed, remaining maddeningly coy on which particular movie that was. “We’re interested in working on a bunch of these other Marvel projections and everything in the Marvel canon is fair game. We have a lot of ideas about all this, but until they officially ask us to come do one of these we’ll keep our mouths closed about the actual ideas. It’s moving along nicely but nothing official yet. But, yes, we are planning on working on some of those movies. That much I’ll say.”

Captain America? The Avengers? What could Marvel be lining up for them? Interesting indeed…

Previz Iron Man Footage

Added extras on the upcoming Iron Man DVD will include lots of previz shots that Jon Favreau and his FX team put together so they could see how a scene would look before they eventually filmed it. Luckily for us, we don’t have to wait until the DVD’s release on September 30th, as Pixel Liberation Front, a visual FX studio that worked on the film, have posted a previs-to-finished-effect comparison of the Iron Man trailer.

I am no good with split screens and lasted 10 seconds before my brain started to swell with all the concentration needed. However if you are hardcore and can handle them feel free to watch the video below!

Deleted Iron Man Scene

Access Hollywood were given a three and a half minute deleted scene that we will be getting on the upcoming Iron Man DVD. The scene shows what happens when Tony Stark wants to throw a last minute party at his house in Dubai.

I can see why it was deleted.

Coolness: Simpson-ized Superheroes

Ever wondered what an episode of The Simpsons would look like if Iron Man, Spider-Man and Batman dropped in for a visit? Well Springfield Punx have done the very cool thing of Simpson-izing a truckload of well known characters from movies, comic books, TV and games, so we don’t have to wonder any more.

You can see some of them below!

The Mummy To Knock The Dark Knight Off It’s Throne?

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, staring Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello and Jet Li, is expected to knock The Dark Knight off of the top spot when it is released this weekend. Batman has enjoyed the #1 spot for the last two weeks but The Mummy is expected to take around $50 million, a few million more than what is expected from The Dark Knight.

The Mummy 3 International Teaser Poster

Although Batman will be de-throned, no other film has grossed as much as quickly as The Dark Knight. The film is expected to hit the $500 million worldwide mark over the weekend, and will soon be overtaking Iron Man to be crowned the top comic book movie of 2008.

Peter Parker Could Have Been In The Incredible Hulk!

We’ve been hearing rumours of a possible Captain America cameo in The Incredible Hulk recently (apparently its nothing more than serum), but one we haven’t heard of before is that fellow Marvel character Peter Parker could also have been in The Incredible Hulk.

Marvel are doing the cool thing of crossing characters over films, we’ve seen Captain America’s shield in Iron Man, then we will see Tony Stark in Hulk and now director Louis Leterrier revealed to MTV information on another interesting cameo…that didn’t happen…

“The University at the end [where Banner meets with Samuel Sterns] is Columbia University. Columbia University in the Marvel world, especially in the ‘Spider Man’ world, is Empire State University,” the director explained. “I wanted some kind of shot where you’re like, ‘Oh my god. Is that Peter Parker?’ That would have been fun!”

Unfortunately for Leterrier, crossovers begin and end with the properties Marvel has total control of – no matter how hard you ask. And “Spider-Man” all its many names, places, and stories therein, belong to Sony. But while he quickly realized that he wouldn’t be able to get Tobey Maguire (no matter how much he wanted to), Leterrier thought a compromise could be reached. No dice, he sighed.

“I just wanted to call it Empire University – to treat it like a coherent world,” he recalled. “And Sony, who has the rights to Spidey, didn’t want us to do that. It was a small thing but something we couldn’t do.”

Still, Leterrier is such a fan of comics, and the new combined Marvel universe in particular, he’s already jealous of the director who one day, he knows, will get to do what he couldn’t.

“Marvel is pretty good at doing their own movies and so eventually the studios will allow them to chaperone the production of [all of them],” he said. “Years from now you’ll see Peter Parker meeting Bruce Banner.”

New Hulk TV Spot With Tony Stark!

A new TV spot has appeared online which includes the cameo of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark! The cameo has been rumoured for a while and we can now see it with our very own eyes. (It’s not the image above, I just thought it looked cool)

If you want to wait till you see it on the big screen than click back now!
