Simon Pegg Off Inglorious Bastards…However…

Simon Pegg today revealed that he will no longer be appearing in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards.

“I won’t be appearing in QT’s forthcoming Inglorious Bastards due to insurmountable scheduling difficulties. We really tried to make it work but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere.”

However, there is some good news in the Pegg department. His next film with onscreen partner Nick Frost, entitled Paul, will be directed by Superbad director Greg Mottola.

Details on the script are minimal at the moment, but it is known that the story concerns the pair taking a road trip across America and, as Jessica Hynes let slip in our Comic-Con video diaries, the story will start at San Diego Comic-Con.

Mike Myers Joins Inglorious Bastards

Unfortunately, Adam Sandler couldn’t appear in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards, however another comedic actor who goes by the name of Mike Myers can! From The Quentin Tarantino Archives:

Breaking news out of Tarantino land, ladies and gentlemen. Some of you sceptics out there will fume at this news, but I’m getting confirmation that Mike Myers will have a SMALL role in Inglorious Bastards. Myers is the star of Wayne’s World and Austin Powers, and also the recent flop Love Guru. No word yet on what role he might be taking over (maybe Adolf H. himself?), yet the movie seems to have an unlimited supply of cameos and smaller characters.

Myers joins Brad Pitt, Nastassja Kinski, Simon Pegg, David Krumholtz, B.J. Novak and Eli Roth.

In the film, a band of U.S. soldiers facing death by firing squad for their misdeeds are given a chance to redeem themselves by heading into the perilous no-man’s lands of Nazi-occupied France on a suicide mission for the Allies.

Adam Sandler Was Approached For Inglorious Bastards

Last week it was confirmed that Brad Pitt would lead Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards, making things a bit more interesting. However, the film could have been even more interesting if Adam Sandler wasn’t busy making more crappy comedies and had a role in the film. Sander confirmed to RTE.ie that the rumours are true and he was in fact approached by Quentin, has read the script, but had to decline the offer due to conflicting schedules.

“Yeah it’s true. It is, and I read the script, it’s fantastic. But I’m shooting at the very same time. I won’t be able to do it. [....] not going to happen, but I did read it. It is awesome. [...] I know Quentin for a long time. We’ve been talking about doing it for years, for like five, six, seven years.”

No word on who he would play, however seeing Adam Sander and Brad Pitt being directed by Quentin Tarantino would be something to see, especially if they were both brutally killing Nazis!

Brad Pitt Joins Inglorious Bastards

Brad Pitt has joined Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards. There has been speculation for a while about the Angelina Jolie penetrator joining the cast, and it has now been made official by Tarantino.info, and then a few hours later by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.

Pitt will play a Tennessee hillbilly who assembles a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers. Bender said casting should be complete in about a week or two. Eli Roth will play the role of Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, and Tarantino is locking in the other seven American actors who make up the Bastards team.

The film begins production on October 13th in Germany and Tarantino is aiming to complete the film and have it ready for next year’s Cannes Film Festival.
