After teasing us over the past few days 20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus which stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Logan Marshall-Green, Patrick Wilson, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce and Rafe Spall.

You can watch the trailer below. It definitely has an Alien-vibe to it, and meets the hype that’s been building. Hopefully the actual movie does too.

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

20th Century Fox will release Prometheus on June 8th 2012.

Yesterday 20th Century Fox released a short trailer preview for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus in preparation for the first official trailer which will debut on Thursday. Now the studio has released a “two days to go teaser” which contains more snippets of footage and more talk from Ridley Scott.

We can probably expect another one to appear online tomorrow. So far Prometheus is looking like one of the must-see sci-fi movies of next year.

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly contains our first good look at Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, which stars Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Guy Pearce and Logan Marshall-Green.

In the image below we see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo‘s Noomi Rapace as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, a researcher and archaeologist. In an interview last month Rapace said Shaw was the “most complete person” she’s ever played, and she “turns into a fighter” halfway through the film after “a lot of things happen”.

Also in the image is Logan Marshall-Green (Devil) who plays a crewman onboard the space ship and the love interest of Elizabeth Shaw. A blonde Michael Fassbender plays an android named David.

Other images show us the characters of Charlize Theron and Idris Elba.

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

With 20th Century Fox’s marketing campaign seemingly under-way we can probably expect the teaser trailer to hit sometime soon. Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi hits June 8, 2012.

Guillermo del Toro said last week that his monster movie Pacific Rim was “the greatest experience of” his life and mentioned filming was scheduled to begin during the first week of November.

Now THR has word that the movie, which so far only has Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day and Idris Elba on-board, has booked itself into Pinewood Toronto Studios with the working title Still Seas for a six month shoot until April 2012.

Plot details for Pacific Rim emerged back in March and the monster movie will give del Toro the opportunity to create two worlds.

The first is an alternate version of Earth in the near future, decades after a historic date in November 2012 when the first kaiju, a towering Godzilla-like beast, emerged from a hole in the Pacific Ocean and attacked the city of Osaka, Japan. The second is “The Anteverse,” another universe on the other side of that gaping portal, 5 miles below our ocean’s surface.

Since the first attack, the rim has been “spitting out” a variety of gigantic monsters at an increasing rate, which then stride out of the ocean and begin destroying sea-bordering cities, like Tokyo and Los Angeles. In order to combat these monstrous, otherworldly menaces, the military developed the “Jaeger” program, which trains teams of two pilots to jointly operate massive, building-sized mechanized suits of armor and high-tech weaponry

Pacific Rim currently has a release date set for July 12th, 2013.

At the beginning of the month Idris Elba (Thor, Luther) tweeted that he was on his way to a meeting about an upcoming part for a controversial director. Some thought it was for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained (and it could very well have been) but according to Deadline Elba has instead just signed on to lead Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim.

Elba is apparently playing the role originally developed for Tom Cruise, and will be joining fellow Brit Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) who was last month cast as Raleigh Antrobus, a skilled pilot who is still wrestling emotionally with the loss of his co-pilot and biological brother.

Guillermo Del Toro is currently deep in pre-production and aims to begin shooting in November for a 2013 release.

Idris Elba will be seen in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance next year and is currently filming Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Christoph Waltz is in, Leonardo DiCaprio might be, and nobody knows yet whether Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Idris Elba or another actor will take the role of Django, but what’s more certain is the release date.

According to Box Office Mojo Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained has been given a release date of December 25, 2012. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year, so all Tarantino needs to do is get the cast in place.

Here’s the synopsis for the movie (potential spoilers):

Django is a freed slave, who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (played by Christopher Waltz the evil Nazi officer in Inglorious Basterds) becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner.

You may have read elsewhere about Idris Elba’s mid-flight tweets on the way to a meeting about an upcoming part for a controversial director. The internet mulled it over and decided that he may have been talking about Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. While it has been reported that Will Smith is a strong favourite for the part, he may never finish filming on Men In Black 3, so old Quentin may be looking elsewhere.

Now we have a further casting rumour to add to the Django Unchained pile. This time the Twitterer is Q&A podcast’s Jeff Goldsmith, who has been on the right track in the past, and says that Leonardo DiCaprio may be taking the part of Calvin Candie, the slave trader and villain of the piece.

Of course Tarantino has been wanting to work with DiCaprio for a while now, previously tapping him up to take the part of the Jew Hunter in Inglorious Basterds, of course in the end memorably played by Christophe Waltz.

I take it this poster was made before the recent casting announcement of Captain America. As you can see below, Chris Evans has been reduce to a small cube on the latest poster for The Losers. It could be the case that his role isn’t that big compared to Zoe Saldana and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but that doesn’t usually matter when marketing is concerned.

The Losers follows a Special Forces team betrayed by its handler and left for dead. The “losers” regroup in the interest of revenge, the opportunity to remove their names from a secret CIA death list and to conduct covert operations against the CIA and its interest.

The film will be released on April 23rd in the US and April 9th, and stars Zoe Saldana, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short and Holt McCallany.

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for The Losers online. The film looks a bit similar to The A-Team, and follows a Special Forces team betrayed by its handler and left for dead. The “losers” regroup in the interest of revenge, the opportunity to remove their names from a secret CIA death list and to conduct covert operations against the CIA and its interest.

It’s good that the world finally has a chance to see Zoe Saldana kicking ass with very little clothing in non-Na’vi form. As well as Saldana the cast includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, and is directed by Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard).
