A few days before the release of Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie said that “it’s not a matter of fact” that he will be directing the movie adaptation of Lobo, following reports in September that he had signed on to direct. Now we know why. According to Hero Complex, who spoke to producer Joel Silver, the success of Sherlock Holmes ($389 million worldwide) has made Warner Bros. interested in making a sequel, and they may want it fast-tracked.

“I don’t think he’s going to do it now,” Silver said of Ritchie directing “Lobo.” “The studio wants us and Guy to focus on making another ‘Sherlock Holmes.’ So I think we’re going to be doing that. But we’re seeing what happens with this. Everybody is analyzing everything. It’s all kind of happening right now as we talk. ‘Sherlock’ is sitting at just about $400 million in worldwide gross and showing itself to be pretty effective and pretty strong. So we’re trying to see if we can do something quickly with another ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie. We have some ideas and some good story points.”

As for Lobo, Silver said they will probably be looking for a different director to come onboard:

Silver said “Lobo” remains a viable project. In the 1980s, the character was a wickedly funny parody of the antiheroes Wolverine and Punisher, characters that now have a combined seven film appearances to their credit.

“It was created as a rebuttal to the Marvel characters and his vest said ‘Bite me fanboy,’ ” Silver pointed out. “It was very much a response to Wolverine and Punisher and the other characters and I think now that makes it fresh [for moviegoers]. We’re working on it now and it will be nice to put it together and make it happen.”

Warner Bros. always planned to make a franchise out of Sherlock Holmes, so it’s not too surprising to hear a sequel is in the works. The film wasn’t anything special, but it was enjoyable and i’d be interested to see where they take it. I’m also interested to see who they cast as Professor Moriarty, who we saw glimpses of in the first film. Rumors swirled a few months ago that Brad Pitt was in talks for the role, however nothing has come of that. Yet.

In September is was announced that Guy Ritchie’s next movie would be Lobo, a movie adaptation of DC Comics’ bounty hunter. At the time the intention was to start production early next year, however Ritchie recently called his directorial role into question while on the rounds promoting Sherlock Holmes (which is getting mixed-positive reviews).

“Is it a matter of fact that I’m doing it?” Ritchie asked when told of reports framing his participation in “Lobo” as a done deal. “I don’t think it’s a matter of fact. In fact, I can tell you it’s not a matter of fact.”

Supremely evasive when asked for clarification, Ritchie seemed intent on keeping the status of “Lobo” — and his involvement with the film — under wraps for the time being. “Isn’t there a fifth amendment or something?” he laughed.

Ritchie’s comments would seem to move the film back into the realm of “potential” and deflate a little of the buzz surrounding the project

It looks like Warner Bros. and Ritchie still have some talking to do, that is if he’s still interested in directing it. In the film Lobo is a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams up with a small town teenage girl to stop the creatures.

Every time Warner Bros. release a new trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes it makes me want to see the film just that bit more, which I suppose is their aim, so well done to them. The December release date is nearing and the effects are almost complete, which means we have a more action packed trailer for our viewing pleasure!

I’m warming to the Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law on-screen partnership. Ritchie and the writers have given them quite a few funny lines, I just hope they aren’t all in the trailers. Sherlock Holmes will be released on December 25th.

It’s been 5 months since we got our first look at moving footage from Sherlock Holmes so it’s about time we got a new trailer. This one is slightly darker than the first one and contains more action, more slo-mo fights and more Holmes/Watson flirting.

Sherlock Holmes will be released on Christmas Day and is directed by Guy Ritchie.

Warner Bros. may be having trouble getting their most popular D.C characters such as Wonder Woman and The Flash onto the big screen, but at least that are managing to develop movies of lesser known comic characters. As well as The Losers (which is currently filming) and Jonah Hex Warner Bros. will be making a movie of Lobo, and have hired Guy Ritchie to direct.

Production on “Lobo” begins early next year. The character originated in 1983 in “Omega Men,” written by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Lobo has had several comicbook incarnations. WB is aiming for a PG-13 rating. Pic will be strong on visual effects, and Ritchie is expected to bring the irreverent, gruff tone of his past films such as “Snatch” and “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.”

I’ve never heard of Lobo before, but it sounds rather badass. I can’t think of any 7 foot muscled actors off the top of my head, so the chances are they will hire a pretty well known actor and do a Hagrid/Juggernaut on him. They’ll have to paint him blue too.

I’m not sure Guy Ritchie will appreciate this. Or maybe he would? Someone who goes by the name of AEmovieguy has decided to give the Sherlock Holmes trailer we got earlier this week a little remix. It’s amazing how different things look when you add different music.

The trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes is now online! Among many things seen in the 2 minute 18 second montage, some shots we see include: Rachel McAdams in a corset, 300-style slow mo shots of Holmes punching a guy in the face and Holmes being sexually suggestive towards a maid. Watch below!

It looks better that what I expected. However, my only complaint is Downey’s accent. Being an Englishman myself I can tell that it’s a bit off, but he has obviously worked hard on it so I can live with it.

Just Jared have posted the first photos of Robert Downey Jr. on the set of Sherlock Holmes. They were busy filming in central London today so it’s not surprising these images were snapped up. It’s fair to say Downey’s clothing looks nothing like what the typical Sherlock Holmes would be wearing. He looks more like Willy Wonka, however I’m sure Guy Ritchie and Downey Jr. have a vision and they will pull it off.

A press conference for Sherlock Holmes was held in London recently and cast members Robert Downey Jr., Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong were in attendance, along with director Guy Ritchie. They talked a little about their characters, and Downey Jr. revealed that at first Ritchie thought he was too old to play the lead part. That was until Iron Man came out this summer and Downey Jr. became a bit more ‘A-List’.
