Spore movie in the works

20th Century Fox and Electronic Arts will collaborate to make an animated movie based on the game Spore.

I first heard about the game in 2006 and followed it up until it’s release in September 2008. It provided me with a few hours of fun, but overall I was disappointed. I was expecting a cool evolution game that would allow me to create a creature and take it from a micro-organism floating in the sea to a galaxy dominating beast. I got that, although it was all too cute and cuddly for my liking. To take over nearby tribes you could either sing to them, or thwack them with a stick, and they all had googly eyes. Although, I guess it was the cute and cuddly approach that helped create this movie deal.

Twentieth Century Fox has paired up with Electronic Arts to turn the publisher’s popular “Spore” game into an animated creature feature, with “Ice Age’s” Chris Wedge attached to helm.
Greg Erb and Jason Oremland, who penned Disney’s upcoming “The Princess and the Frog” and Ben Stiller pic “The Return of King Doug” at Paramount, will write the script for the “Spore” movie. It will be produced as a CG-animated toon by EA and Blue Sky Studios, which is behind the studio’s “Ice Age” pics, “Robots” and its next effort, “Rio.”

They’ve got a cool team behind it and the whole Spore concept is quite interesting so I can see myself seeing this, even if it is one for the kids. The evolution part will probably cause a bit of controversy when it’s released though.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 trailer

If you weep at the thought of having to wait until 2012 to see a group of superheroes battling it out in The Avengers, then you will probably want to purchase Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. It’s a sequel to the 2006 game and it contains just about every Marvel character you could want. There’s Iron Man,, Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, Storm, Deadpool, Hulk, Human Torch, Luke Cage and loads more. The game allows you to choose four characters to work your way through different levels and scenarios. Characters can combine powers, level up and even change their outfit.

James Cameron previews Avatar game. Screenshots released!

Avatar director James Cameron attended E3 and gave a presentation on the Avatar game. He spoke in-detail about the Avatar universe that has been created for the film and game, and reveals that they have been developing the game with Ubisoft for 2 and a half years in an effort to make it not “suck”. You can watch the presentation below!

It’s a shame our first real look at Avatar is via some game screen shots but at least it’s something! Hopefully we will get the trailer soon as promised.

Another Batman: Arkham Asylum trailer

A third trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum has appeared online. This is looking like it could be the best Batman game in the history of Batman games. In the game The Joker is taken to Arkham Asylum where he escapes capture and opens up the cells, releasing all the crazy inmates. Batman will have to kick all of their asses while trying to stop The Joker in the process.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine game trailer

The trailer for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game has clawed it’s way online, and you can watch it below. The great thing about games is that you can put a truck load of action into them that would cost millions to put onto the big screen. So while we probably won’t be getting half of these cool sequences in the movie, we can live them through the game if we wish!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game trailer

IGN have premiered a teaser trailer for the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game, and it features a voice over from Optimus Prime aka Peter Cullen.

It has no release date yet, however it will most likely be released around the time the movie is released in June.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine game trailer!

Gametrailers.com got a first look at the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game, which will be released on the same day as the movie. The trailer doesn’t show any game play footage, however it does some some scenes that we could end up seeing in the movie, such as how Wolverine and Sabretooth start their feud. We also get brief glimpses of Deadpool and Wraith (played by Ryan Reynolds and Will.I.am in the movie)

New Batman: Arkham Asylum Trailer

A new trailer for the Batman: Arkham Asylum game has been released and it looks damn cool. Just like in The Dark Knight, The Joker always has a plan for when he ends up getting caught, however in this game The Joker is taken to Arkham Asylum where he escapes capture and opens up the cells, releasing all the crazy inmates. In the game Batman will have to kick all of their asses while trying to stop The Joker in the process.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine game screenshots

1up.com have got themselves 25 new screenshots from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game. As it is 2009 there is an expectation that the visuals will look great, however the landscapes in this game look amazing. Check out all the screenshots by clicking either of the images below!

Wolverine regularly loses chunks of his flesh (and his shirt) in combat, and Raven’s given him full muscle and bone layers under his skin, which means taking damage will open up bloody wounds in the appropriate places (while a “bruise map” makes the transition between healthy and damaged skin less jarring). Take a shotgun blast to the chest and you’ll see the macabre results; screw up while free-falling between a series of midair helicopters (a particularly cool sequence) and Wolverine will shred himself into a bloody mess on the blades. Such reckless actions would have grim consequences in most games, but Origins makes surviving a gratifying regularity. Simply avoid taking damage for a few moments — or stand still and zoom in the camera for added effect — and watch gaping wounds seal right up.
