While it’s long been assumed that the multi-talented actor would star in the project, we didn’t have official confirmation until The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog received word.

Anyone who has seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall knows how passionate Segel is about this project: he basically used the final scene of that film (involving an elaborate Muppet vampire musical) to begin his campaign to make another Muppet film. Various versions of the script have been leaked around the web, so we won’t speculate about the plot of this film – Heat Vision says the plot is being kept “under wraps.”

There have also been rumors of high-profile cameos, including George Clooney, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, Chris Rock, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Mel Brooks, Matt Damon, Norah Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ben Stiller. I’m not even a die-hard Muppet fan and I’m excited about this project. Segel’s passion for the project indicates a level of respect and care we rarely hear about in the industry these days, so I’m interested to see the final result.

What do you think? Are you excited about The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time? More importantly, is the title misleading? How can they expect to top The Great Muppet Caper?

Read similar posts to Jason Segel starring in The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time at Filmonic

Review: Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Movie News

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Jason Segel

Movie Reviews

I’ll admit it: I’m probably one of the only people on the planet who thought The 40 Year Old Virgin was just okay, and that Knocked Up (as much as I LOVE Katherine Heigl from Grey’s Anatomy and her Roswell days!) wasn’t really all that funny. So, I had my reservations and doubts when going in to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Peter Bretter works as a composer for his hot actress girlfriend’s TV show. Sarah Marshall is the current “it” girl of the small screen. Everything about their relationship seems picturesque, until the day Sarah dumps Peter for another man, the corny British pop singer Aldous Snow.

Peter spends some time trying to get over Sarah, going through numerous women in only a few weeks, before realizing that what he really needs to do is get away, so sets out for a vacation in Hawaii. The only thing is… Sarah is already there and staying at his hotel. And so begins the humorous dance of avoidance between the two. Throw in characters like Chuck the surf instructor who seems to live in his own little universe, Darald the newlywed whose religion is keeping him from mind-blowing sex, and Rachel the customer service agent who wants to show Peter a good time, and you’re in for a two hour period in your life you’ll be glad to give away!

Let me start out by saying that I am once again a believer. This movie blew me away with its creativity and its comedic timing. I think that most of the credit here needs to go to lead actor and WRITER of the movie, Jason Segel. Who knew this guy could be so damn funny? But it really worked, and I hope he continues to write in the future.

The script was really well written. I could be wrong, and I’ve wracked my brain trying to remember, but I don’t remember hearing one curse throughout the entire movie. Maybe one or two, but nothing excessive like you get in other comedies for our age group. As a writer myself, that’s something that I can really appreciate. You don’t have to dumb the script down to get a few laughs—though Jason Segel did flash his penis a few times, but it was always in good taste!

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry… but, only because you’re laughing so damn hard!

I’d have to give this one a strong 9/10, and recommend everyone to see it in theaters!

Read similar posts to Review: Forgetting Sarah Marshall at Filmonic
