I know I’ll be stating the obvious here but if you look above you’ll see Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page kissing. The incident took place during a photoshoot for one of those women’s magazines, where both actresses were interviewed about their upcoming film Whip it!

“[Meeting Drew] was a surreal moment for me in my life,” Ellen said. “You could just feel her warmth and kindness immediately, and the way she carried herself was just so grounded. So then it was like, ‘Oh, this is going to be great.’ And then it went into, ‘Oh, my God, I’m really crazy about this person.’ It just grew and grew and grew and grew and grew.”

Obviously it’s nice to look at and it’s good to see the two have…bonded, but i’m in two minds about how to take it. There aren’t that many female directors around and there’s a constant push in Hollywood to try and get more woman behind the camera. Drew Barrymorre, a female, has directed her first movie and has basically used her sexuality to promote it. Is this a cheap move by the pair to get press? Are they just playing the whole media game? Is it professional to be smooching your director and co-star for a magazine? Or is it just harmless fun?

The trailer for Whip It! has appeared online over at Yahoo! The film stars Ellen Page as a rebellious teenager who signs up to play the brutal roller-derby against her mother’s will, finding friendship and freedom among the bruises and falls. USA Today received the first image from Whip It, which is Drew Barrymore’s first outing as director. She also stars in the film alongside Ellen Page.

Roller-derby comedy Whip It, stars Ellen Page as a rebellious teenager who signs up to play the brutal and sexy female sport against her mother’s will, finding friendship and freedom among the bruises and falls.

The movie was directed by Drew Barrymore, who has been producing films for years (Donnie Darko, the Charlie’s Angels movies) but finally decided to get directly behind the camera. Working with Steven Spielberg on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and others on her many films as an adult, Barrymore learned that directing calls upon a lifetime of experiences. “Everything I’ve learned throughout my whole life has been going into this piggy bank, and I just smashed it all over the floor for this one,” she says.

Earlier this week Summit Entertainment set the release date for Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight trilogy. Now just 4 days on we have talk of a possible director, actress/director Drew Barrymore.

As Summit Entertainment looks to lock in a director for the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, the company is talking to a select group of directors — including actress-turned-helmer Drew Barrymore, EW has learned. While this news may come as a surprise to some, Barrymore did just finish work on her directorial debut, Whip It! starring Ellen Page. Neither Summit nor Barrymore’s reps would comment for this story

Summit must like the idea of a woman director taking on the franchise. Catherine Hardwicke directed Twilight, but passed on directing New Moon so Chris Weitz took over. Drew Barrymore is a bit of a newbie in terms of directing, however she has been in the business long enough to what to do. I think.

The first Charlie’s Angels movie was a fun ride, however Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, while still fun, was rather stupid. They had Demi Moore flying around, annoying pre-Transformers Shia LaBeouf and too many silly CGI scenes that made things laughable. However, despite the weaker second film the Charlie’s Angels franchise made $523 million worldwide, which shows that people liked it and could possibly want more.

Recently Drew Barrymore told E! Online that she’s ready to play Dylan Sanders again in a third installment of the franchise:

“I’m so into it,” Barrymore said while promoting her new star-filled romantic comedy, He’s Just Not That Into You. “I’m so into it—Charlie’s Angels III!”

“It’s percolating up,” said Nancy Juvonen, Barrymore’s Flower Films producing partner. “It’s rising to the surface.”

Barrymore added, “They’re hard movies to make, but they’re fun.”

Ideas are being kicked around, including the possible introduction of a fourth Angel.

Let’s not forget about a villain. Sam Rockwell and Crispin Glover were among the baddies the first time around. Demi Moore appeared in Full Throttle as Madison Lee, a former Angel turned vamped-up villainess. For the next flick, they say they’ll probably go with another guy.

If memory serves me right Drew Barrymoore owns the rights to Charlie’s Angels and made quite a lot of $$$ from the films, so a third one will be another big payday for her.
