Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson talk Iron Man 2

Last week we saw the first Entertainment Tonight Iron Man 2 set visit, then the second, and now they have three one-on-one interviews with Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson to present to us.

The interviews are embedded after the cut, and they may all start playing at the same time so you’ll have to be skilful in how you deal with the situation. But it’s okay…I believe in you..

First up is Gwyneth Paltrow who talks about Pepper’s promotion to CEO of Stark Industries and the love triangle between her character, Black Widow and Tony Stark.

Next Don Cheadle talks about War Machine and getting in on the action with his own suit. He also mentions that Robert Downey Jr. shaves his chest. Exclusive info right there.

Finally Scarlett Johansson talks about how she got the role (although she doesn’t mention Emily Blunt having to drop out, but it’s okay because nobody likes to be a second choice), showing the Black Widow suit to Ryan Reynolds and performing the stunts required for the role.

We haven’t heard anything from Mickey Rourke yet. Maybe they don’t want him to be interviewed because it will break the whole ‘badass villain’ role he will be playing.

Last week Entertainment Tonight posted a 5 minutes video from the set of Iron Man 2. It contained interviews from all the cast and a look at some behind the scenes action from the Monaco Grand Prix set. Now they another video to present to the world which focuses on Mickey Rourke and his whips. While the video is shorter, it’s for more interesting than listen to Gwyneth Paltrow talking about how good she feels and her children. I’m sure her children are lovely, but this is Iron Man 2 and i’m sure everyone would rather see Mickey Rourke smashing up cars!

Yesterday we got a sneak preview and today we have the full Entertainment Tonight Iron Man 2 set visit. Most of the visit takes place on the Monaco Grand Prix set where Tony Stark first meets Whiplash. We see some cars being smashed up and Robert Downey Jr. says that it is probably his “favorite thing in the world to do professionally because you get the free adrenaline rush and it’s all safe.” Gwyneth Paltrow talks about wearing skimpy clothes and Scarlett Johansson talks about training for the role of Black Widow and the love triangle between her character, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.

First look at Don Cheadle and Sam Rockwell in Iron Man 2

Entertainment Weekly have been on an Iron Man 2 roll recently. They got our first look at Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and now they’ve received the far less interesting images of Don Cheadle as Col. James Rhodes and Sam Rockwell as weapons manufacturer Justin Hammer. The image above also shows director Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr watching playback from a boxing ring.

Filming on Iron Man 2 finished this week, so hopefully they can gather some footage together for a teaser trailer in the near future.

Mickey Rourke will talk to a cockatoo in Iron Man 2

Earlier today we got our first look at Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, however the accompanying article also gives us a few details about what we can expect in the sequel. Here are some snippets below:

Rourke, for his part, wanted to instill some lightness into the role of the heavy. “I told Favreau, ‘I don’t want to just play him as a one-dimensional p—-,’” he says. “He let me have a cockatoo, who I talk to and get drunk with while I’m making my suit.”

Scarlett Johansson joined the cast as Stark’s mysterious new assistant, Natasha, who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow. That introduction inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), who’s been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries. “The men want it to be, like, ‘Ooh, the girls are fighting over Tony,’ but it’s not as standard as that,” says Paltrow. “There’s a weird male catfight fantasy. Downey agrees. He believes what differentiates the franchise from other superhero series can be summarized as follows: “We’re horny. Not, like, can’t-bring-your-kids horny, but just…horny.”

Mickey Rourke getting drunk whilst talking to a cockatoo and lots of horny people. Iron Man 2 sounds like it’s going to be fun.

Robert Downey Jr. taking Iron Man 2 more seriously than any movie he’s ever done

Collider recently got the chance to ask Robert Downey Jr. a few questions about Iron Man 2, which is currently in filming mode. He said that due to high expectations he is taking the sequel a bit more seriously, and he also praised the new additions to the cast (Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle).

Here’s a snippet:

Another bit that Robert told us was how he is taking “Iron Man 2” more seriously than any movie he has ever done:
Robert: I’ve never been in a sequel and it’s very daunting because I feel the expectation of the millions of people who watched it and enjoyed it and told me that it was a little different than your usual genre picture and that they expected us to not screw it up. So I actually have taken “Iron Man 2” probably more seriously than any movie I’ve ever done, which is appropriately ridiculous for Hollywood.
On the way the suit has been improved from the first film:
Everything has been improved. Everything is ergonomic and the story is incredibly risky and artistic for a big genre movie.
In which way risky?
The set pieces have to do with things that aren’t your typical like bad guy conflict. The relationships are very complex and hilarious. The motivations Tony has and why he turns around and does things has completely to do with his own internal processes and it really is, I think, as much as we tried to in the first one really see behind the façade of this kind of storytelling. We really, I think, leaving ourselves open to…we’re kind of trying to tell a story about how a dysfunctional family saves life on Earth as we know it.
Could you talk about working with Mickey?
I could if we shot together. I’ve seen his stuff and it is literally remarkable. Literally remarkable. He’s so good. And he’s formidable and he’s very much reminding me of that kind of charming, confident guy that we know. Sam Rockwell, on the first day of shooting I was like “if this guy thinks he’s going to be funnier and cooler than me (laughter) and it was a photo-finish. Scarlett Johansson, amazing. Don Cheadle is just rocking it.

Iron Man 2 starts filming Monday

Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau updated his Twitter profile with the following:

Start shooting Monday. Last of cast has arrived in LA

By ‘cast’ he means Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson. I’ve only just noticed how cool the bunch of actors Favreau has assembled are.

Iron Man 2 is scheduled for a release next May, which means there’s only 1 year and 1 month to wait!

Robert Downey Jr. Talks Iron Man 2 Recast

Up until today we hadn’t heard anything from Robert Downey Jr regarding the Terrence Howard/Don Cheadle recast for Iron Man 2. Recently we heard that apparently Marvel weren’t happy with Howard’s performance in Iron Man and they wanted to reduce his salary (he was said to have been paid more than Downey Jr. for the first film, as he was the first cast member signed).

Downey Jr. spoke briefly to Splashpage about the situation, saying he didn’t make the decision and doesn’t know why it’s happened:

“I had nothing to do with that decision. I love Terrence very very much. That’s all I’ll say because I haven’t talked to him yet.”
“I’ve always admired Don [Cheadle],” said Downey. “It’s one of those situations where I still don’t quite know what happened or why. Here’s what happens too: things happen and you wind up commenting on them before you’ve actually talked to the people and it’s in poor taste.”

When Downey Jr says he loves Howard ‘very very much‘ he means it. Back in August when everything was fine and dandy Terrence Howard said he was excited about the sequel and looked forward to him and Downey Jr. getting personal trainers and bulking up together. Now it looks like Don Cheadle will be bulking with Downey Jr. instead.

The emotional pain Terrence will be feeling must be unimaginable.

Robert Downey Jr, Don Cheadle And Jon Faverau Confirmed For The Avengers

The Avengers movie has just got it’s first bit of official casting. Marvel Studios have just released a statement confirming that Don Cheadle will be replacing Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2, and that he will also be joining Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Faverau in The Avengers.

As part of his four picture deal with Marvel Studios, Robert Downey Jr. is appearing as Tony Stark in THE AVENGERS motion picture, as well as reprising his starring role as the larger-than-life leading character in IRON MAN 2. Jon Favreau will return to direct the sequel to the blockbuster IRON MAN, which to date has grossed over $578 million worldwide, as well as executive produce THE AVENGERS.
In a movie event, THE AVENGERS will bring together the super hero team of Marvel Comics characters for the first time ever, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk and more, as they are forced to band together to battle the biggest foe they’ve ever faced.
The highly anticipated sequel to IRON MAN will be released in theatres on May 7, 2010 and THE AVENGERS will be released July 15, 2011. Both films will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Samuel L. Jackson Talks Iron Man 2, Marvel Say “No Comment” To Howard Recast

Samuel L. Jackson talked briefly to BlackVoices.com about returning as Nick Fury in Iron Man 2.

Are we going to see more of Nick Fury in ‘Iron Man 2′?
Samuel L. Jackson: I saw Jon Favreau last night (at the Scream Awards), and he told me we were. I was standing next to George Lucas and he said to me, ‘Hey! I hope you are making your deal with them (Paramount)’ and I was like, ‘Really’ (Laughs)
Are you excited to be working with Don Cheadle?
SLJ: Yes. Don and I are good friends and I think it’s going to be an exciting difference. We’ll see what happens. It’s kind of amazing how (the switch from Terrence Howard to Don Cheadle) that happened.

Meanwhile MTV asked Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige about the recent Terrence Howard/Don Cheadle recast, to which he replied:

“No comment”

He then went on to say:

That [‘Hollywood Reporter’ story] was not an announcement. That was, as it tends to happen in the business, is rumors and leaks and things like that. I do think there will be clarity soon.”

So nothing is official yet? This is getting stupid!
