Lionsgate have released a new red-band trailer for Conan the Barbarian. I’m not a fan of the music they’ve used, but as it’s a red-band trailer there’s plenty of violence, blood, sword fights and decapitation to make up for it.

The movie, directed by Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder), will be released August 19th in 2D/3D and follows Conan (Jason Momoa) as he ventures across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village. Momoa is joined by Ron Perlman who plays Conan’s father, Stephen Lang (Avatar) who will be villain Khalar Singh, and Rose McGowan who plays a “half-human/half-witch”.

The teaser trailer for Conan the Barbarian didn’t offer much as it was mostly smoke, but the first full trailer gave us an idea of the direction Lionsgate were taking their Conan reboot, and it looked pretty much as expected. There was nothing particularly new or exciting about it, but some of the action looked interesting.

Today a new TV spot for Conan the Barbarian has been released, and while it only lasts 30 seconds, there’s plenty of new shots.

The movie, directed by Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder), will be released August 19th in 2D and 3D and follows Conan (Jason Momoa) as he ventures across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village. Momoa is joined by Ron Perlman who plays Conan’s father, Stephen Lang (Avatar) who will be villain Khalar Singh, and Rose McGowan who plays a “half-human/half-witch”.

Lionsgate have finally released a trailer for their Conan the Barbarian reboot, and it’s a true teaser. Very little footage is seen, and the footage we do see is blended in with flames and smoke, with a few lines of dialogue heard in the background.

According to Film Music Reporter Tyler Bates has been hired to score Lionsgate’s Conan the Barbarian. Bates frequently collaborates with Zack Snyder and provided the scores for 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch, which will be out March 25th.

Lionsgate has released a motion poster (a poster that moves and makes noises) for their Conan the Barbarian reboot.

According to IGN, the motion poster is “a nod to the classic Conan imagery of the late artist Frank Frazetta. Indeed, the poster is an intentional effort to bring Frazetta’s vision of the character to life, just as the new film is a reincarnation and reinvention of the world’s most famous barbarian for modern audiences.”

Two weeks ago Nu Boyana Film Studios released the first official image of Jason Momoa as Conan which gave us an idea how physically ready for the role the actor was. He is nowhere near as big as when Arnold Schwarzenegger was wielding the sword back in the 80′s but he has clearly been training heavily for the movie and he looks the part.

Today Uruloki got their hands on another image, and while I wouldn’t consider it a good one, it does give us a look at Conan in action.

Joining Momoa in the film is Ron Perlman who will play Conan’s father, Stephen Lang who will be villain Khalar Singh, and Rose McGowan who plays a “half-human/half-witch”.

Lionsgate has yet to set an official release date for the film but it will be released at some point in 2011.

The Bulgarian production company behind the upcoming Conan movie, Nu Boyana Film Studios, have released the first official image of Jason Momoa as Conan.

Momoa was cast as Conan towards the end of January and filming began in Bulgaria in March, so he only had around 8 weeks to get into shape for the role. He doesn’t looking like a former Mr. Olympia like Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he doesn’t really need to.

Joining Momoa in the film is Ron Perlman who will play Conan’s father, Stephen Lang who will be villain Khalar Singh, and Rose McGowan who plays a “half-human/half-witch”. I’m going to reserve too much judgement until we see the first trailer, as it could go either way. Director Marcus Nispel is familiar with this type of genre having directed Pathfinder, however his effort can’t really be considered encouraging. Here’s hoping the script is decent and isn’t full of your typical cheesy swords and fantasy dialogue.

Latino Review got a scoop last week that said Stephen Lang, the guy who casually drank coffee while destroying Hometree, had joined the cast of Conan. They said he would play the main villian, Khalar Singh, who is described as “commanding in size and manner, a warlord and formidable warrior, brilliant, cruel, weathered and tanned by the many campaigns he has waged and won. He is driven in his quest to find the Queen of Acheron and has been building an empire to do so.”

In a recent interview with MTV Lang confirmed he had been cast in Conan, and spoke briefly about the cutting off Mickey Rourke’s genitals.

“I’ve accepted the role of Khalar Singh,” he said. “I have no idea how I’m going to do it. First I’m going to find out how I’m going to sound. I’m going to get back on a Mongolian pony and ride like the wind. I’m going to flash my scimitar. I’m going to cut the nuts off Conan and his father.”

In other Conan news Latino Review also got word that Rachel Nichols (G.I Joe) will be playing the female love interest in the film. Her character is called Tamara and she is a “master of martial arts” and “has been trained to be the Queen’s servant, bodyguard and best friend”. She teams up with Conan to track down Khalar Singh after he captures the Queen of Acheron.

Conan begins filming this month in Bulgaria under the direction of Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder) and will be released by Lionsgate sometime in 2011.
