Christian Bale Meets The Terminator

Yesterday The Dark Knight actor Christian Bale met the Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger in Los Angeles, however I cannot image what they could be talking about. Perhaps they be swapping stories about the currently filming Terminator Salvation? I’m sure Arnold would be interested to know what’s happening with the first Terminator film without him (possibly). Did Arnold congratulate Bale on The Dark Knight and reminisce about when he was part of the Batman franchise as Mr Freeze back in the 1997 movie Batman and Robin?

What do you think they were talking about?

Christian Bale Will Not Face Charges

christian baleI am sure everyone remembers the badly timed arrest of Christian Bale after the European opening of The Dark Knight in London. Well there is good news for Bale, he will not be charged!

From CNN:

Batman star Christian Bale will not face charges relating to an alleged assault last month on his mother and sister, prosecutors said Thursday, suggesting their decision was based in part on the family members’ wishes. Christian Bale’s mother accused him of assault the night before the London premiere of “Dark Knight.”

Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence to afford a “realistic prospect of conviction,” and ordered police not to take any further action.

The service said in a statement that while it “treats all incidents which take place in a domestic context seriously, it is important that the views of complainants are also taken into account when making decisions in such cases.”

Even if Bale did ‘assault’ his family members (which is rumored to be nothing more than a push and shuffle), the press attention and humiliation he received the day after his movie opened, and for the following days, was bad enough punishment in my opinion.

I’m glad this has now been resolved, as we can watch Terminator Salvation without thinking John Connor gave Sarah Connor a backhand or two.

New Terminator Salvation Photo

Below is a new image of Christian Bale as John Connor and Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright from Terminator Savation.

John Connor is fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

Jonathan Nolan Lead Writer On Terminator Salvation, Rated R? Trailer With Bond!

I'm gonna shoot you in yo face!

I’m guessing by the numbers everyone went to see The Dark Knight and I’m going to guess again and say that everyone enjoyed it. Well the chances are you wouldn’t have enjoyed it if Christoper Nolan and his brother Jonathan didn’t slave away at the script day in and day out. Without a good script it is rare that you have a good movie, so I am delighted to inform you that Jonathan Nolan has been confirmed as the ‘lead writer’ on Terminator Salvation.

According to McG, Nolan was “the lead writer of the film,” and “I don’t know how the WGA rules work but honest to goodness, we did the heaviest lifting with Jonah.”

Jonathan Nolan said he had been working on the script a while back but nobody knew how big his involvement was. Thankfully he has had a large input so the chances of Terminator Salvation sucking drops significantly.

More good news. FirstShowing were at Comic Con and director McG revealed some rather interesting info about the film.

The biggest news of the day was that McG apparently convinced the Warner Brothers execs to let them shoot it how they want and thus it could end up being rated R in the end! Additionally, McG hinted that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-101 model Terminator might make an appearance. I must say, this movie is really starting to look great.

Although this is exciting, Terminator also has the big merchandising deal to go through with and kids may not buy the goods it if they can’t see the film!

And finally, when will we get our next look at John Connor and friends?

McG also announced that a Salvation trailer would be attached to this fall’s Quantum of Solace, so you can catch some more footage then and decide for yourselves what to think.

Christian Bale Arrested

christian baleChristian Bale has been arrested by British detectives who are investigating claims he assaulted two family members, according to the BBC.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 34-year-old man had been arrested in connection with an allegation of assault, and remained in custody.

Mr Bale is alleged to have lashed out at his mother and sister in his suite at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday.

Bale was at the European premiere of The Dark Knight last night in London and he had been due to meet with radio journalists to promote the film on Tuesday afternoon.

This is rather bad timing, however he has only been taken in for questioning and has not been charged with anything as of yet.

Update: The case will resume in September, unless charges escalate. Bale denies all charges.

Christian Bale Talks Terminator Salvation

christian baleWhile on the rounds promoting one huge franchise, Christian Bale took time to answer questions about a potential new one.

CS: What attracted you to another big franchise like “Terminator?”
Christian Bale: Well, initially, actually, that was NOT an attraction. I felt that I wasn’t sure where it could go to. Before I gave an answer, I went back and reviewed the other movies. I felt like “Okay, unlike ‘Batman Begins,’ this would be something where we would be respecting the previous mythology.” Certainly of one and two, not so much number three – but certainly you would be recognizing that mythology, unlike “Batman Begins” where we were saying that this is the beginning, right here. But what I view in it, and what has ultimately made me make the choice to make it, is that I see the same potential for reinvention and for breathing new life into the mythology. That’s what I view our responsibility as filmmakers to be. It’s pointless if we don’t succeed in doing that.

CS: How is filming going?
Bale: Good, good. They’re a number of weeks in. I’m just a week and a half in… It’s going well. It’s a tall order, it really is, and I recognize that and we have a lot of work to do, and I’ve just begun on it, because I only just finished working on “Public Enemies” a couple of weeks back.

Public Enemies also stars Johnny Depp and Channing Tatum, and evolves around 1930’s American gangsters. This contrasts with Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins which is set a few decades in the future. We cant have Bale having too many roles in the same century can we? We don’t want him typecast!

“If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I’ll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work.”

Christian Bale As Robin Hood?

christian baleWe learned the other day that Sienna Miller was up for the role of Maid Marian in the Ridley Scott movie Nottingham, and now The Daily Mail have word that Christian Bale may be donning the tights and playing the iconic Robin Hood. So we have Batman, John Conner and now possibly Robin Hood? Bales agent deserves a HUGE pay rise, and maybe some sexual favours on the side.

The Mail say:

Christian Bale, soon to be seen as the caped crusader in The Dark Knight, is in talks about donning the jolly Lincoln Green outfit of Robin Hood, where he will be part of a menage a trois between Russell Crowe’s Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller’s Maid Marian.

Nothing is signed for Bale, but director Ridley Scott is exceedingly keen to cast him.

Costume fittings begin next week, so he’ll be either in or out by then. Vanessa Redgrave and William Hurt are also in discussions about being in the film, which is called Nottingham.

Personally I find this unlikely, however it could work out. If Bale does end up playing Robin Hood he will be a very busy man.

Chris Browning Joins Terminator Salvation

Chris Browning who stared in 3:10 to Yuma alongside Christian Bale, will be re-teaming with him according to moviehole, as he has joined the cast of Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. He will be playing the role of ‘Morrison’, a robot battling friend of John Connor.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is currently filming in New Mexico.
