We got our first look at The Expendables 2 in the form of a teaser trailer in December, but now Lionsgate has released a full length trailer which features explosions, Arnold Schwarzenegger ripping doors off of cars, and a good old Jean Claude Van Damme vs. Sylvester Stallone fistfight.

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Lee Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries.

But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way.

The sequel, directed by Simon West (The Mechanic, Con Air), will be released August 17, 2012.

This week in Las Vegas, there’s an event called CinemaCon in which theater exhibitors and industry types gather to see presentations from the studios about their upcoming films. Paramount has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming summer blockbuster G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and it definitely has enough to keep action fans happy. Take a look for yourselves after the jump.

I’ll give director Jon M. Chu credit – it seems like he’s doing all the right things to appease fans who didn’t care for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The movie comes to theaters on June 29th, 2012.

The very cool looking sci-fi thriller Looper just had its first trailer released a few hours ago, and my advice to you is to stop whatever you are doing this instant (unless you are working on a nuclear plant or something) and watch the following video.

As you might have guessed from the trailer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Joe, what they call a ‘Looper’. They’re basically a trained assassin hired by the mob to terminate targets sent back 30 years from the future (replacing the now classic “drop-him-in-the-river”). Everything changes one day when his future self (played by Bruce Willis) becomes his target.

Cool looking trailer aside, Looper stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels, Piper Perabo and Paul Dano.

Between this and 6 other films scheduled for 2012 (Expendables 2 being one of them), Bruce Willis is a very busy man. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is also rather busy with 3 others projects for 2012 (including The Dark Knight Rises) and while I can fault him for sometimes playing it safe, he sure knows how to pick a good script.

Directed and written by Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom), Looper opens September 28th in North American and I’m very much looking forward to it.

Production is about to begin on the 5th installment of the Die Hard franchise A Good Day to Die Hard, which will see Bruce Willis reprise his first iconic rough and tough role as loose cannon cop John Mclane. While that’s probably the major draw here, it goes without saying that the villains, in this franchise and any other action movie, are just as important.

Variety confirms that Sebastian Koch (The Lives of Others) and newcomer Yuliya Snigir will be the latest villains to give Mclane a run for his money, named Komorov and Irina. Things will be even more interesting, as Mclane will be the one out of place this time around, being forced out of an American setting and into an overseas frenzy deep in the middle of Russia, paired with his son Jack (Jai Courtney).

While early rumors pointed towards yet another member of the violent Gruber clan being the latest antagonist, it’s clear from the casting that if the two do end up being the primary villains, they will just be much more basic foes. The most recent script written by Skip Woods (Hitman, Swordfish) has Mclane travelling to Moscow in order to get his son out of prison. But then things get a little more complicated as the father and son duo are forced to become pawns in a global terrorist plot.

So, again, on paper the two Russian villains may turn out to be just typical terrorist archetypes, but, as we’ve seen from the franchise, what it ultimately comes down to is the execution, the chemistry between the characters, and of course the action scenes. If Willis and Courtney have the right amount of on-screen chemistry, we just might have an entertaining turn of events a la Die Hard With A Vengence. While it’s still early to tell, it’s easy to see that A Good Day To Die Hard could be a great addition to an already solid franchise, when it hits theatres on February 14th, 2013.

According to THR Dean Parisot is in final negotiations to direct the sequel to Red. The first movie, which starred Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and Morgan Freeman as retired special ops agents, was released in 2010 and made $200m worldwide for Summit Entertainment.

Dean Parisot is said to have beat out a number of other directs for the gig. His last movie was 2005′s Fun with Dick and Jane starring Jim Carrey, and he also directed the 1999 sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest with Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, and Alan Rickman.

None of the original cast are signed for the sequel, but most if not all are expected to return. Filming is set to begin later this year after Bruce Willis has finished shooting Die Hard 5. Erich and Jon Hoeber, who wrote the script for the first film, returned for the sequel.

When news first surfaced that there was going to be a sequel to G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra, it’s safe to say people were more than up in arms, and who can blame them? Then Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bruce Willis were added to the cast, getting people curious, but no matter what, it was a still a G.I Joe movie.

However once that first trailer hit, a forgetful summer movie that no one cared about rapidly turned into one of the most anticipated in a matter of minutes.

Well if you weren’t convinced now, we’ve got the new French trailer, which, despite having a similar structure to the U.S trailer, reveals a bit more of the plot and motives of both the heroic Joes and the villainous Cobra. Plus, there’s some new action-packed battles being showcased, different angles of previous ones, and a lot of great close ups of the new vehicles. Oh, and we even get treated to Cobra Commander’s new look, which looks a heck of a lot better than he did in the previous movie. But don’t just take my word for it, check it out for yourself!

When Cobra spy Zartan has most of the Joes assassinated, the remaining Joes band together to strike back.

Now some may say that an overwhelming focus on the same set pieces that all of the current trailers showcase is a bit redundant, but it’s better to know as little as possible, on Paramount’s part anyway, rather than just bombarding the audience with a whole bunch of new concepts that would make even the modest movie fan scoff at (like the first one did).

But there’s no doubting that even with the limited amount of footage we’ve seen, it’s still a huge improvement and a viable addition to the rough-and-tough action genre that the summer movie season is known for. Focus Features has released the first trailer for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, which features Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman as part of the cast.

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.

Moonrise Kingdom will be released May 25th, which is the same day as Men in Black 3.

We got a brief glimpse earlier but now Paramount has released the first full length trailer for G.I Joe: Retaliation. The trailer is introduced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and looks to be a big improvement on G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Johnson appears to be the new lead (Channing Tatum is barely seen or heard in the trailer), and Paramount leave the introduction of Bruce Willis right till the end.
