When news first surfaced that there was going to be a sequel to G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra, it’s safe to say people were more than up in arms, and who can blame them? Then Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bruce Willis were added to the cast, getting people curious, but no matter what, it was a still a G.I Joe movie.

However once that first trailer hit, a forgetful summer movie that no one cared about rapidly turned into one of the most anticipated in a matter of minutes.

Well if you weren’t convinced now, we’ve got the new French trailer, which, despite having a similar structure to the U.S trailer, reveals a bit more of the plot and motives of both the heroic Joes and the villainous Cobra. Plus, there’s some new action-packed battles being showcased, different angles of previous ones, and a lot of great close ups of the new vehicles. Oh, and we even get treated to Cobra Commander’s new look, which looks a heck of a lot better than he did in the previous movie. But don’t just take my word for it, check it out for yourself!

When Cobra spy Zartan has most of the Joes assassinated, the remaining Joes band together to strike back.

Now some may say that an overwhelming focus on the same set pieces that all of the current trailers showcase is a bit redundant, but it’s better to know as little as possible, on Paramount’s part anyway, rather than just bombarding the audience with a whole bunch of new concepts that would make even the modest movie fan scoff at (like the first one did).

But there’s no doubting that even with the limited amount of footage we’ve seen, it’s still a huge improvement and a viable addition to the rough-and-tough action genre that the summer movie season is known for. Paramount has released the full G.I. Joe: Retaliation Super Bowl TV spot ahead of the game this Sunday. The short trailer contains Dwayne Johnson reciting Jay Z, more action shots, and more of Bruce Willis.

Focus Features has released the first trailer for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, which features Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman as part of the cast.

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.

Moonrise Kingdom will be released May 25th, which is the same day as Men in Black 3.

Lionsgate has released the first teaser trailer for The Expendables 2. Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Jean Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger all star, and as the cast is the whole selling point for this film they’re all mentioned by name.

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Lee Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries.

But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way.

The sequel, directed by Simon West (The Mechanic, Con Air), will be released August 17, 2012.

We got a brief glimpse earlier but now Paramount has released the first full length trailer for G.I Joe: Retaliation. The trailer is introduced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and looks to be a big improvement on G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Johnson appears to be the new lead (Channing Tatum is barely seen or heard in the trailer), and Paramount leave the introduction of Bruce Willis right till the end.

No matter what the movie is, if it has big name stars, iconic characters, or explosive action, it’s safe to say anyone would love a sneak peek at it, especially when the film doesn’t fully release until the summer of the next year.

The Dark Knight Rises is the perfect example of a film that has people anticipating the IMAX release of Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol, and not even for the film itself, but a promise to witness the first 6 minutes of the epic finale of Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise. But what if that first look is of a sequel of a film that was just a complete mess, simultaneously tarnishing its source material and enraging fans completely?

That film is none other than G.I Joe: Retaliation, and, even with just a short 18 second preview, it seems the sequel is making quite the effort to make us forget about the original that shall not be named, discarding the ridiculously fake robotic “super suits” and instead focusing more on the powerhouse introduction of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bruce Willis. The film also stars Channing Tatum, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Adrianne Palicki, and Arnold Vosloo, among others.

Die Hard 5 has a title (A Good Day To Die Hard), a director in John Moore (Max Payne), and a release date of February 14, 2013. Now 20th Century Fox and Bruce Willis are testing actors to play John McClane’s son who, in the film, joins his farther in Russia and gets into trouble with local forces.

According to Variety:

In the next week, Willis will begin reading with actors for the role of John McClane’s son, including Ben Foster, Paul Dano, Aaron Paul and Milo Ventimiglia. Fox is also showing strong interest in Paul Walker, but he’s not expected to test.

As the pic began clearing obstacles, the role of McClane’s son has been on the minds of most of the young actors in Hollywood, as insiders say it could open the door to inherit the “Die Hard” franchise — much like Jeremy Renner could wind up the face of Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible” series, or Shia LaBeouf in “Indiana Jones.”

Bruce Willis will likely have a key role in determining who gets the part (especially if they’re to carry on the franchise in the future). On paper Paul Walker has the advantage, coming off the $600m success of Fast Five, but both Paul Dano and Ben Foster have worked with Willis in the past. I suppose any of the names mentioned above could play John McClane’s son and whatever it entails.

Filming will begin in Russia early next year so casting confirmations will likely be appearing over the next few weeks.

Following the success of The Expendables last year ($274 million worldwide) a sequel moved swiftly into development and Simon West, who most recently directed The Mechanic, as well as Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, came on-board to direct.

Now Deadline reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, who appeared briefly in the first film, “have just closed deals to take “substantial” roles” in the sequel.

Following the release of The Expendables Sylvester Stallone told his Twitter followers that he wanted Bruce Willis to be a “super villain” in the next film so, unless things have changed, he’ll be the bad guy. In the original Willis had a cameo as “Mr. Church,” a shadowy figure who sends Sly and his team of mercs on their mission. Arnold Schwarzenegger played a rival mercenary leader called Trent Mauser who let Sly and co. take the mission because he had other things to take care of.

Aside from Stallone, original cast members Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li and Terry Crews are expected to return. Jean-Claude Van Damme confirmed he’ll be part of the film after declining a role in the first film, and there’s talk of Chuck Norris also joining the ranks.

Filming will begin in October and Lionsgate are aiming for an August 2012 release.

When Noam Murro signed on to direct 300: Battle of Artemisia for Warner Bros. in July it left 20th Century Fox in need of a director for Die Hard 5.

At the time John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Max Payne) was the top contender, and now Deadline has confirmed that Moore will indeed direct Bruce Willis in his fifth outing as John McClane.

Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), Justin Lin (Fast Five) and Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) are said to have been on Fox’s wishlist, but they settled with Moore after Willis was swayed by the directors “love for the John McClane character, and his grasp of how to shoot practical, non-CGI-heavy action scenes”. Die Hard 5 will be set mostly in Russia with John McClane accompanied there by his son, and the two become drawn into a conflict with local forces.

Deadline also says Willis has been going through a similar list of names to direct the sequel to Red. As well as Willis the movie starred John Malkovich, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, and is Summit Entertainment’s most successfull non-Twilight movie with $164 million worldwide made last year. The plan is for Willis to shoot Die Hard 5 first, and then move on to the Red sequel.

If the casting of Dwayne Johnson in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation last month wasn’t enough, Paramount are now in talks with another action star to join the film.

According to Heat Vision, if the deal works out, Bruce Willis will play General Joe Colton, the man who in the 1980s comic books starts the G.I. Joe strike team, called the ultimate freedom fighting force, and got the handle G.I. Joe.

Willis will join a cast that already includes Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Ray Stevenson (villain Firefly), Adrianne Palicki, Lee Byung-hun, D.J. Cotrona, and Ray Park.

Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the script for the sequel, and Jon M. Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Step Up 3D) will be in the directors chair when filming begins later this month. Paramount have set the release date for June 29, 2012, a slot previously held by Star Trek 2 until it became clear it wouldn’t make that date.
