Babylon A.D. will finally be released in the upcoming days and we will be able to see the latest Vin Diesel action-fest. Although, one man who will not be doing any publicity for the film is director Mathieu Kassovitz, who recently spoke to AMC and told them why he is not particularly happy with his own movie…or 20th Century Fox.

“I’m very unhappy with the film,” he says. “I never had a chance to do one scene the way it was written or the way I wanted it to be. The script wasn’t respected. Bad producers, bad partners, it was a terrible experience.”

“It’s pure violence and stupidity,” he admits. “The movie is supposed to teach us that the education of our children will mean the future of our planet. All the action scenes had a goal: They were supposed to be driven by either a metaphysical point of view or experience for the characters… instead parts of the movie are like a bad episode of 24.”

The film’s production was reportedly riddled with problems, from vast delays to budgetary concerns to weather setbacks. Kassovitz points to the studio, “Fox was sending lawyers who were only looking at all the commas and the dots,” he says. “They made everything difficult from A to Z.” The last stroke, Kassovitz says, was when Fox interfered with the editing of the film, paring it down to a confusing 93 minutes.

“I should have chosen a studio that has guts. Fox was just trying to get a PG-13 movie. I’m ready to go to war against them, but I can’t because they don’t give a shit.”

Fox once again prove that all they are good at is pissing people off and turning good material into your typical mindless blockbuster. I was interesting in seeing Babylon A.D. but now I am not too sure.

A behind the scenes featurette of Babylon A.D has appeared online. It contains the usual behind the scenes stuff along with explosions and stunts sequence.

Warning: Make sure the sound is low as the explosions are ferocious and will cause your eardrums a considerable amount of pain. However, feel free to go full volume if your into that sort of thing.

It seems Russia are getting quite a lot of movie related stuff nowadays, and today they have a cool looking poster for Babylon A.D.

Babylon A.D will be released at the end of August. The 29th to be exact.

We’ve had a few other trailers in Russian and French but now we have a real life trailer that we can understand that is subtitle free! Even better is that it uses the overly used Requiem for a Dream trailer music!

Another teaser trailer for Babylon A.D. has appeared online, and just like last time, we can’t understand a word of it. However, we now have some cool visuals to look at, including some slow-mo bullet time scenes. Check it out below!

A new French poster for the Vin Diesel’s sci-fi action-thriller Babylon A.D. has been revealed by Allocine and the movie’s official French site will soon be launched at BAD-lefilm.com with a teaser trailer.

Word on the internet recently suggested that Vin Diesel’s Babylon A.D. will be sliced and diced in the USA, giving it a shorter running time than in Europe and elsewhere. Some people were disappointed as that would mean character scenes, development and a good portion of the story would be cut. The production company, MNP Entreprise, decided to address these rumours and put the fans minds at rest.

The last days have been busy with news about the length and the rating of Babylon AD. I always find it amazing to see rumors grow from other rumors or misunderstanding. Therefore I think the time is good to give you some updates.

Babylon AD has never had a 2h40min cut. This rumor came from a joke Mathieu did in front of some journalists last september. Apparently some of them didn’t understand it… The approximate length of the film is 1h40min and this is what has been delivered to our partner, FOX. So I can reassure you, FOX is not chopping up the film and cutting 70min like I read on Rotten Tomatoes ! :-)

Oh and about the PG13, that was a contractual agreement between Fox and us, so there is no surprise on that end.
The truth is Fox – like any other studio – will have their final cut on their territories and Mathieu Kassovitz has his on the European ones. So there will naturally be a few differences between the two versions.

Now about the film, StudioCanal is working on teasers and the poster for the European territories as I speak. A French teaser should be released on the web quite soon!

The sci-fi action/thriller evolves around a veteran-turned-mercenary who agrees to escort a woman from Russia to Germany, not realizing that she’s the host for an organism that a cult wants to harvest into a genetically-modified Messiah.

Vin Diesel’ sci-fi, action, adventure, thriller Babylon A.D. is apparently going to be 2 hours and 40 minutes long…in everywhere but the USA. According to Babylon A.D’s Production Blog and Twitch, the film will be released in Europe in early 2008, where as America will have to wait until August and get a shorter version.

There has not been an official trailer or anything marketing-wise, so there isn’t much hype for the film yet. All we have to go on is the promo teaser, which looks quite interesting, but then again explosions usually do.
