The final trailer for Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 B.C has stampeded its way online. When I saw the first trailer a while back I thought, ‘How cool would it be to have a trailer of this prehistoric epic to the raging sound of techno-like music?’, and this is what we have! Joy!
The trailer contains lots of action shots, with wide shots of mountains, which means it must be epic. There are also lots of mammoths running, whether they are being chased by men with spears, men with ropes, stampeding down huge ramps or even into one another. If this film is historically accurate, (I mean all Hollywood movies do some research), then I’m not surprised them mammoths went and got themselves extinct. Forget the ending of an ice age, exhaustion is the reason they died out!

I like the trailer, however there is something about the film that makes me think it won’t be as good as I want it to be. Although we heard dialogue in previous trailers, this one doesn’t contain one spoken word. This marketing strategy has been used before, on a film called Eragon. I dare you click the link to find out its IMDB rating!

I will probably go and see 10 000 B.C, but knowing full well that it will not be as good as I hoped it would. We haven’t had a film like it for a while, and when we finally get a film full of Sabretooth Tigers and Woolly Mammoths it turns into a typical Hollywood popcorn flick. However, that’s just my impressions from the trailers we have got, and the director.

Below is a new image of Camilla Belle and some dude looking rather worried in upcoming 10000 B.C. The film is directed by The Day After Tomorrow director, Roland Emmerich and is a a prehistoric epic that follows a young mammoth hunter’s journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe.

I would LOVE to see a film based in the same era that didn’t look like your average popcorn flick. Emmerich makes fun movies but he should have made this a little more grittier and darker.  What do you think?
