Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer may have revealed the title they’re using for the MOS sequel, in which Batman and Superman will team up. Or are they enemies? At the Superman 75th Anniversary panel at Comic-Con, Goyer had this to say:
So the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s–we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s–that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.
Funnily enough, the newly released logo for the film is almost identical to the logo teased on a billboard in Times Square, in 2007’s I Am Legend. That film was set in 2012, so the filmmakers were a few years off; but the showdown is happening after all. Though hopefully humanity isn’t wiped out by a mutant plague à la I Am Legend before we get to see the movie.
It’ll be interesting to see exactly what Superman and Batman’s beef is with each other; after all, they both have the shared goal of protecting the citizens of the world. Presumably they’ll work out their differences by the end of the film, which will lead into the eventual Justice League movie.
Either title works. But in my opinion Batman vs. Superman has a better ring to it. Although, it is the Man of Steel’s sequel, so he may not be very happy with getting second billing. Maybe that’s the beef?
