Will Storm and Nightcrawler appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

storm days of future past Image Bryan Singer is on the rounds promoting Jack the Giant Slayer, and obviously people are asking him whether more characters from the original X-Men trilogy will be appearing in X-Men: Days of Future Past. From the sounds of things the script is still evolving, so Halle Berry’s Storm and Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler could still show up.

Singer was asked by MTV about Storm, who was alive and well at the end of X3 and would provide some great action sequences in the future battling sentinels.

Singer said that an appearance from Storm is still up in the air. “I can’t say. I don’t know yet. And it’s not necessarily a deal making aspect at all,” he said. “I want to make sure it’ll make sense. But I love working with her.”

Singer also wouldn’t confirm to The Huffington Post whether Nightcrawler would return to the franchise (his role was so small in early versions of X3 that they decided to drop the character entirely).

Will we ever see Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler again?
I don’t know. We’ll see. You know … we’ll see.

That sounded coy.
[Laughs] Yeah, I know. I don’t want to … sometimes you don’t want to say “yes” or “no” to something that may not be a “yes” or a “no,” or anything. I haven’t decided yet, a few things. I’m still, you know — there are certain aspects of the script that I’m still toying with.

With filming set to begin in April Singer probably knows which characters will be involved, but I guess things could change as it usually does with these types of films.

The Days of Future Past comic storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps.

James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult are all set to reprise their roles, along with Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore. Filming will begin in April for a July 2014 release, and The Wolverine, directed by James Mangold, will hit screens July 2013.

I really think there is a place for most of the former X-Men
in Days of Future Past, but for Storm especially. She was one of the first
X-Men, so it would make a lot of sense to see her in the dystopian future
storyline. I am interested to see what Bryan Singer decides, and I am glad that
in the meantime, I can refresh on my X-Men knowledge using Blockbuster @Home
from DISH. It’s so easy to go online and update my cue, getting my movies in
the mail a couple days later. There’s nothing better than coming home after
working late at DISH, and finding a new movie waiting for me. I also really
enjoy that if I forget to send something back, I have the option of unlimited
in store exchanges. Watching the movies again has helped me remember everything
that has happened up to this point and I really hope that Days of Future Past
manages to bring every former X-Men together once again.

I agree, I think there is a place for Storm. She was a big part of the original Days of future past story in the comics in both future and past and she should have a place in the movie as well. Halle needs to come back as Storm. Storm vs. Sentinels… freakin wow! Simple as that. It would be awesome to see Nightcrawler thrown in there as well, he’s awesome.
