Just over a week ago Zoe Saldana, who played Uhura in Star Trek, said she expected filming on the sequel to begin around about this time next year. This gave us a small indication as to when we would see Star Trek 2 on the big screen, and now according to ComingSoon.net Paramount has set a tentative release date for J. J. Abrams’ anticipated Untitled Star Trek Sequel for June 29, 2012.
By looking at Filmonic’s release date page for 2012 we can see that there is hardly any competition at the moment, although that will no doubt change over upcoming year.
Nothing about the story is currently known as writers Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci are still working on the script.
