When the announcement came down that Transformers 4 would not have any of the returning human characters from the original trilogy it seemed like a bold decision that could go either very badly or very well. The more casting news we get though it looks like it may turn out to be the latter. Now we’ve gotten some of the most exciting casting news so far with the prolific Stanley Tucci signing on.
Tucci has appeared as everything from The Hunger Games host Caesar Flickerman to a child murdering paedophile in The Lovely Bones and even a fun dad in Easy A. Tucci will be joining Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor who will comprise the main cast of the film. The combination of accomplished actors; Wahlberg and Tucci and rising stars; Reynor and Peltz makes the new Transformers 4 possibly the most promising in the series so far.
Rumors have also been swirling around about a possible return of Josh Duhamel, who played an important role in the first three Transformers films. Duhamel’s character would make a lot more sense to return than almost anyone else, and personally I’d be glad to see him return as Duhamel’s performance was one of the better ones in the original trilogy.
Transformers 4 will be released in theaters around the world on June 27th 2014.
