Stanley Tucci, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Lovely Bones, has joined the cast of Captain America: The First Avenger according to Variety.
Tucci will play Dr. Abraham Erskine who in the comics was a German scientist behind the project that created the serum turning Steve Rogers into Captain America.
This news follows the casting of Neal McDonough as S.H.I.E.L.D officer Dum Dum Dugan late last week. It seems director Joe Johnson and Marvel are filling out the small yet crucial roles ready for filming later this month in London.
Tucci will be joining Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Samuel L. Jackson as Nicky Fury and Tommy Lee Jones as General Chester Phillips.
