The Wachowski Brothers’ action “family” flick has officially become the summer’s first Box Office BOMB!
That’s right! This $100 million film has grossed an embarrassing $6.1 mil in 3,606 theatres this Friday, making the weekend estimate a mere $20-23 million. Ouch! Early IMDb scores rank Speed at about a 6.
I’m guessing Warner Bros. isn’t too happy right now!
On the other hand, Paramount is THRILLED with Speed’s failure, because that means more loot for The Man. Iron Man that is! The blockbuster smash, which was recently reported to be the second biggest opening for a non-sequel EVER, made another $15 million on Friday, bringing its domestic total up to about $141 million for the first week, and making estimates for another $50 million over this weekend! To peace!
