In Cars 3 Lightning McQueen tries and fails to keep up with the next generation of racers. But maybe all is not lost for the once legendary car. Watch the new trailer below.
“Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet, and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!”
With just two movies released so far the Cars franchise already made over $1 billion worldwide at the box office and several times more than that from merchandise, which is really the main reason why Pixar keep making these films, merchandise. But that doesn’t mean they can’t make a good one and what they showed so far of Cars 3 seems promising. I think I can already safely say that Cars 2 this is not.
Brian Fee directed Cars 3 and Robert L. Baird and Dan Gerson penned the screenplay. Voicing some of the characters in the new animation are Owen Wilson, Armie Hammer, Bonnie Hunt, Tony Shalhoub, Larry the Cable Guy, Cheech Marin and many others.
Cars 3 opens June 16th in the US and around the world.
