At the risk of sounding repetitive ; I loved it.

Some of the negative reviews, (which are actually pretty few, including trolls), their arguments are weak at best. Yes, the story line isn't vastly complicated, and it could be compared to other story lines. But James Cameron did what he set out to do. Visuals alone are so mind blowing, that it's kind of a relief not to have to follow multiple parties, or have too much to keep track of. It's more of a visual explosion, with an interesting, paced story line. I loved the characters, loved the acting, I loved the story line. I love story lines like that, especially in with a Sci-Fi/Fantasy twist. The dialogue is good too, some people complained, but it's no where near the cheesy-lines like in Titanic.
Which, by the way, I liked those cheesy lines in Titanic.
    'Where to, m'lady?'
    'To the stars.'

Common. It's corny, but, it's my favorite line. Maybe I'm being a girl about it, but I loved that line. <3 *sigh*

And, really, Titanic wasn't a hugely complicated plot. <.< But James Cameron pulls it off. I loved Avatar, totally deserves all the hype it gets, and I hope it does really, really well at the box office.

Bottom line, I give it a 10/10. Usually I'm a prick, but this movie is like, exactly my type of movie. The story is awesome, the last hour of the film I had permanent goose bumps.
So, if anyone's reading this that hasn't gone.. Go buy your tickets, see it in 3D. If you love movies, see it. If you love sci-fi, fantasy, action.. do yourself a favor and go see it. This is what the cinema is for.

“Ewya has heard you!” So awesome. <33

I absolutely adored the movie. Yes the story line was predictable and not complicated. The background plot was though. Thats what I like. He's got so much background plot to work out of that this could be a franchise. I hope it doesn't though. The visuals were fantastic. The best that I have ever seen and the characters were great. All and all the movie is definitely a 10/10. The best movie of the year I think.

Avatar is a once in a life time film. You've never seen anything like it.

    10/10

  • Miguel

Absolutely fantastic! A visual feast! I felt transported to a new universe as I sat in the theater watching it. I think I'm going to go back for second before Xmas is here.

Wow, That was my first 3d movie and i could not have went to see a better one. The movie was amazing. That is one of those movies that i could watch a thousand times. That is the by far the best movie i have ever seen.

  • bstnrdsx343

Movie was absolutely brilliant, I've seen it twice already and plan on seeing it again.
Easily one of the best films of the year. If you haven't already seen the HBO Avatar behind the scenes make sure that you do. It really sheds a whole new light on the viewing. The way the film was made is just incredibly. 10/10

Well send them a message. That this…this is our land!

  • Michael M

And i hope they make a second one as well it does not get any better than AVATAR

  • vcurtz

Well, James Cameron said if this movie does well, he has the second movie all mapped out. :D He said he plans on it being a trilogy.

  • ali pash

Urg, stop trolling. T_T I saw this stupid thing from imdb. You're not funny, you're just trying to piss people off.

It's even more pathetic if you're serious. Like the guy who's pissed off that there are no transgendered or gay Navi people. It's embarrassing.

Zoe plays a beautiful alien in a sci-fi fantasy movie, how is that insulting? She's had roles where she's not an alien.. They chose her because she had an exotic look. <.< Common sense, which you clearly lack. It's just stupid. I hope Liam deletes your stupid post. -.-;; Everyone who visits that blog agrees with me.

I had stayed away from the 3D thing due to being overwhelmed by the grafix, at the cost of the story fears. Not so here! Yes, good vs bad, a whole earth/ we are all connected story, and a lot of “red shirt” characters, but those that got lines really shone like the Tree of Life! My kids all are Really interested in all the conections within the story, and are asking questions about how that is in Our world, now.
I only hope I can answer most of them well enuff to Keep them thinking, and this movie Will let you keep thinking. Amazing sights, sounds, action, the Na’Vi come to life in this film.
I give it 9/10, only because I saw a bit too much of The Hulk in the last major battle scene, but climactic, it still was! My wife cried. No easy feat, that! Go! See!
    Enjoy!!

  • Umbriel03

Best movie I ve ever seen. He created a world that surpasses our own. It is my hope that he makes a series of these. A reawakening of the imagination. Wonderful.

  • pipjase

When i left the theater, I was experiencing a wave of emotions. Primarily depression, because the best movie ever made had ended. The story line, the amazing CGI was all completely unmatched. I certainly hope that they bring us squeals, and that new movies are able to keep up with this new standard.
    10/10

I really feel like this film portrayed a new era of visual arts and graphics that will change the way we view movies forever. Was the plot line somewhat predictable? well yes it was, but did the film entertain me in a way I have never been entertained before. Heck yes! When a film allows you to actually feel like you are a part of the movie, you know it is a good one and worth seeing over again. All in all, best movie of 2009.

  • epics

I fell in love with the characters, Zoe and Sam did a fabulous job!

Avatar will be one of the top sci fi films of all time.

When Sam (Jake) comes swooping down in that orange legendary mount, back to his lover and the clan after losing their home OMG I think the entire audience was speechless, that was so epic, I think everyone cried.

To say that Avatar is the best picture of the year is the understatement of the year. I just can’t stop saying, “Wow!” It’s not even fair to compare it to the other films of the year. It really does stand in a class of its own.

Instantly shot up into my top 5 favorite movies of all time. The movie had an amazing story that kept me captivated the entire movie. When it was over i felt satisfied with the ending. Perfect film. 10/10

  • moob

every thing looked fake and was not impresed. the story was weak and the acting sub-par and yeah. i mean it was a beautiful movie but it was just that all wow and no balls. this movie lacked power and heart i felt jipped watching this movie and i have never felt jipped with any of other films. i was hoping for the greatest movie of all time and i got BATTLE SMURFS 3D. the cgi almost looked good, was better than TLOTR and other movies but, no im not a fan of cgi in the first place, and yeah they could have made this movie ten years ago, im sorry but its just not a movie breakthrough…it to me, did not push boundries. just my thoughts though

  • moob

when i said any of other films, i ment any of JAME’S other films.

Kind of off topic, but does anyone know the budget for Avatar? I tried hunting around for it, but nothing’s concrete. I heard 200million to 500million. Anyone know for sure?

What James Cameron did was give 21st century inhabitants their “universal” history”: advanced civilization discovers and exploits primitive civilization: Cortes and the Aztecs, the Roman empire, ancient Greeks, Egyptians . . . keep going. But he went a step further: he wisely brought in another age-old motif, from Tristan and Isolde to Romeo and Juliet to West Side Story: an affair of the heart between a member of each of these different cultures. It is that simple; it is that complicated. Viewers who truly feel emotional about the movie — and if they are caring human beings they will — should understand that they are experiencing an old yet recurring story of humanity unfold that all their ancestors witnessed and felt as well. Just brilliant

It was fucking awesome… I really like it, one thing that could be better is that the movie is a bit predictable. But that does not take away that it’s just a fucking awesome movie. THanks

I went in expecting something good, I got something epic. Long story short I’m going for my second helping tonight.

It looks amazing, it’s better looking than any film I have ever seen. It marks a new milestone in the use of c.g.i. in that it actually manages to reproduce human or at least humanoid movement while making it look believable and natural. On the downside it has a generic story with bland one dimensional characters (some of you may disagree, but ask yourselves what you actually know about the main characters? It’s probably not a lot). So the only real strength of this movie is the visuals, which will soon be surpassed by other blockbusters. Good looking = Yes, Timeless = afraid not.

I saw the movie last night, and can’t wait to see it again. It’s true that the story was simple, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing – it allows the plot line and visuals to not distract from each other. I think that if the plot line was more complicated, combined with the visuals the movie could have been overwhelming. Also, the fact that it was a simple plot doesn’t mean it was a bad plot – the story was still entertaining.
Having said that, it’s true that the visuals were amazing, as everyone has said, and I don’t even like 3D – my expectations of it are too high, so for me it doesn’t always deliver.
The characters, and this has been mentioned before, were slightly one-dimensional, but they still had enough development and interaction to allow you to genuinely feel bad or happy for them at certain points throughout the film.
Even though I doubt the movie will be an instant classic, I can see it being remembered as the movie which changed the way we see films in theatre, and I definitely recommend seeing it.

The movie presents themes of faith, hope, protection, destiny, survival. We see the beauty and power of mother nature through 3-D. Yes there is romance! Love is not defined by one’s self image in this movie, but by the open mind of a human’s heart.

I saw this movie last night in IMAX 3D and it was INCREDIBLE!!! What an amazing achievement in film. Seeing this movie makes you automatically a part of legendary film history. The visuals were fantastic, the story was good, and the acting was great. I even got choked up a couple of times throughout the movie which rarely happens with me.

All in all it is a fantastic movie so those 2.5 hours were well used! As a matter of fact I might give another 2.5 hours to see it again!!

Is this what it has come to that the visual is all that matters…

I think there was a lot more to the film than the visuals. It had universal themes and I thought the story was compelling. I agree that it will be one of the top sci fi films.
