After years of speculation and rumors, the sequel to Sin City, called Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, began shooting Monday. The cast includes familiar faces from the first film including Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King and Jessica Alba. Joining the cast is Jamie Chung, who appeared as Ed Helm’s fiancée in Hangover II; she will replace Devon Aoki who played Miho the assassin in the first film.
Robert Rodriguez has returned to direct with Frank Miller, writer of the Sin City comics. Their script is a combination of new storylines and plots from the comic. There are still a few questions surrounding certain roles, however. The Dame to Kill For comic features Dwight, played by Clive Owen in the original, and a character called Ava in a complex relationship.
It’s still unclear whether Clive Owen will return as Dwight. Some sources have hinted that he is on board, but there hasn’t been any official word yet. Dwight receives facial reconstruction surgery, so a new actor isn’t that out of the question.
As for Ava, plenty of rumors have floated around, with the forerunner appearing to have been Angelina Jolie for a time; however that no longer appears to be happening. Rounding out the still uncast parts is Johnny who is described as a “smooth gambler.”
