The three and a half-minute trailer for one of our most-anticipated sci-fi films of the summer pushes the audiences deeper into the story that takes place in 2159, including the subplot where Max (Matt Damon) rekindles ties with his old flame (Alice Braga).
It’s nice to see Damon playing the character against type, with a bit of an edge to the ordinary guy from Earth who has just five days to live and must go on a dangerous mission to Elysium, where medical technology would be able to cure him, by breaching its strict anti-immigration laws.
Jodie Foster, who hasn’t done a sci-fi film since 1997s Contact, plays the mayor of ‘Elysium,’ who will do anything to keep him and anyone else deemed undesirable earthbound from infiltrating her artificial paradise.

The follow-up to Blomkamp’s surprise hit District 9, Elysium was made on a much larger budget of $120 million. South African filmmaker directed dystopian sci-fi pic from his own script, and the film also stars Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Diego Luna and William Fichtner.
Elysium opens in US theaters on August 9th, 2013, but doesn’t arrive in UK cinemas until August 23.
